I figured I should probably stick a post up here and let everyone know what was going on. The State of the T Address, if you will. *grin*

So, here goes:

  • I'm a very lucky person. Not only did I have a virus, the surgeon is fairly sure that my gallbladder also hates me. Go team me!

  • This means that I get to go forth and get injected with dye on Wednesday, followed by a shot to make my gallbladder contract, so that they'll know what it's actually doing.

  • In the meantime, I'm on the low-fat, low-spice low-flavor diet. I'm not kidding y'all. I can have lean meats, but no pork or processed meat, a few vegetables that aren't "gassy", breads as long as they're not buttery like croissants, bananas and apples. No dairy, no eggs, no oil, no chocolate, no nuts.

  • If the surgeon is correct, my winter break just got filled with surgery to get rid of this bitch, because I am not eating like this forever.

  • On the other hand, I am feeling mostly better, aside from occasional owies when I push my luck. So, y'know, that's a good thing. Also, Betty Crocker yellow cake mix made with applesauce instead of milk and eggs is pretty tasty. Needed more cinnamon, though. Will have to experiment.

I can only assure you -- you will not miss it at all. *g* and if the surgery is laproscopic, chances are you really won't even need much recovery time. I had mine out ten+ years ago on a Monday and was back at the office on Wednesday.

I'm with Maygra Once it's out, the whole world loos better. I mean, if you can control it with diet, YAY for you. But I felt so much better one it was gone. Had mine out on a Thursday was back at work Monday morning.

Also: My sister had hers out in '88 and she's got these two huge scars... I had mine out April 05 and I have three one inch scars you can't even see anymore. The medical world is much better for gall baldders.

Best of luck with getting that sucker removed. Your intestines will be more than up to the task of taking over the work.

Ow, that sucks! But, yeah, I know people who've had theirs out, and they were totally fine afterwards. But, mmm, cake. :)

Oh baby, I've been reading and thinking of you but haven't commented. So know I am relieved and wish you well with the surgery - I'm glad this issue is reparable.

Also, you and Nil need to come down and we'll go here with [livejournal.com profile] nancy__whiskey and [livejournal.com profile] gotmce99 when you are better and it'll be EPIC and AWESOME. *clinghugs*

Oh dear. But, as others have said, it's not that much needed, you won't miss it if you have to take it out. *crosses fingers for you*

Remind me next time and I'll show you my wee little scars. Nothing to it. I stayed out from work for a week more for the luxury of it than anything else. Laproscopy RULZ. The worst pain I had was in my shoulders (from blowing up my abdomen with air so it stretched my diaphgram) and my poor bruised belly button where they inserted the air. The other three incisions were nothing. And you will feel SO much better once it is gone. Plus the food thing? Yeah. And I started loosing weight FASTER once they took it out because my body was better able to metabolize fat without it. You have questions, I have answers, babe. :-) I'm so proud of you for getting it checked out and making a plan for taking care of it!

Adding my voice to Maygra's and the others'. I had laparoscopy sixteen years ago. Had almost zero post-op discomfort and was back at work in no time. The run up to the surgery wasn't so much fun because I'd put it off WAY too long and spent five days in the hospital with bouts of pancreatitis (omfg ow!) and fever before they could operate. Given a do-over, I'd have the thing out as soon as I could.

Well, at least you have a possible diagnosis and something can be done about the problem. Sorry to hear about the surgery likelihood, though. Fingers crossed for you!

Good luck with the tests and possible surgery, I had two in the last 12 months, I understand the fears and pain too. It really does feel better after you fix what is wrong

I'm sorry you're so sick! *hugs* Most of the adults in my family (mom, one aunt, one uncle, one grandmother - all on my mom's side) all had their gallbladder removed. For my mom it was the "cut into your stomach" surgery, but for my aunt it was laser. Recovery is still hard, but better than being cut into. I hope the change in diet brings you some relief, I know it's not tasty, but if it's helping then the blah food can be tolerated for a bit. The no chocolate? *cringe* I feel for you, that's got to suck.

I make my cakes like that a lot, you can not tell the difference between a cake mix made with applesauce and one with oil. Still tasty.

Try to feel better! *more hugs*
