I've been piddling around with nail polishes lately. Jess got me hooked, and like her, it's an easy thing to do for self-care when I'm down on myself.

I've been looking at tutorials, and decided, with poisontaster's donation of a glass bowl last weekend, to try water marbling. This is what I ended up with. I'm kind of in love with it. It wasn't as difficult as I thought, either. I can't wait to try more colors.

Have you tried dry water marbling? It's similar and I know for me I made less of a mess. You do it similar to the regular water marbling but after you make your swirly patterns you take a ziploc or ziploc type baggie and press it into the water. When that drys you can transfer the patterns to your nails.

Hee! It was definitely less messier. I think I had more fun making the designs than putting them on my nails.

I just saw this other technique I had to look up while on Pinterest. (Pinterest is the best time suck ever)

This one is called the saran wrap technique and I think I'm going to try it next.

Best. Idea. Ever. I'd never even heard of water marbling before, but this was so gorgeous, and your idea sounded easy, so.

This was the one that didn't work, my first attempt where I screwed up the bullseye and then screwed up the flower worse, and ended up just swirling it all round in a fit of the pouts, and dunking the plastic in it just to get it out of the cup. And it dried so pretty I just had to put it on my nails! Looks like pricy art-enamel jewellery, no?

I may be a little obsessed with this. I'm blaming you. And beanside.

That is really cute. I like how well the colors go together. Seeing how certain colors melded together was so fun.

Ooh, that's another cute idea, thanks! I'll bear it in mind for my next-but-one nail paint; I just got my hands on my first Konad plate, so that one's gonna be next up. I'm getting kinda antsy for it, TBH - the marble nails are still going strong after three whole days, which is unusual for my hopelessly chip-prone nails, and I half want to keep the marble forever, and half want them to be leopard-print now, dammit. *impatient*

Oh, pretty! I've gotten hooked on the whole nail polish thing too. Like you said, it's good self-care, and I think it also allows me to feel like I'm wearing something new/different even with the same damn clothes I've had for years. :)

that is so cool! i've never heard of water marbling either, altho i think i have read the same kind of thing only putting the nail polish on a piece of plastic wrap rather than in water, and then transferring the design to your nails. (i think. something like that, anyway.)

It seemed like fun! I like piddling with stuff like that. My inner creativity doesn't have to fight with my lack of spoons to do anything more active.
