Well, that didn't go anyhow near I had planned it. In the best possible way.

I went to work as usual yesterday, and then I got the bright idea that I could just take a half day of work, put Yoda in the bedroom and we could go to get the Princess Celeste. Jess nixed that one, because they didn't want to leave Yoda alone for that long. But then I came up with another option. We could move his allergy shot up earlier, and then leave around 5:30, which would only leave him alone for a max of 30 minutes. Jess agreed and the foster was up for it, so I called the vet, and moved Yoda's shot appointment up a bit.

Yoda did not enjoy his allergy shot. He yelped like they murdered him when they lifted him onto the table. Little dog HATES being picked up. But he got it and should be feeling much less itchy soon. Then we had a bit of time to pet and praise him until he settled down, and then it was time!

The drive to York wasn't bad at all. Aside from some traffic right around our house, we managed to miss everything, and pulled into the parking lot of the Petsmart right around 6:35pm. Our appointment was at 7, so we chilled for a little while.

On the way down the street to the store, there were people in chairs and on the back of pickups lining the street. IT was technically for a parade of street rod cars. but it felt like these people were here to cheer us on as we went to meet little Celeste.

She and her foster arrived a few minutes later, and we went to a room to let her out of her carrier. Needless to say, she was a wee bit overwhelmed and shy. But oh my lord, she's cute. After a little while, she got brave, and came out and sniffed around the room, gracing me with a rub against my calf and giving Jess the all important head newf and laying next to them for a few moments.

After a bit, the foster asked what we thought, and we immediately said yes. Of course there was paperwork, but only one sheet. Her adoption fee was only $75. I gave them $140, because that was ridiculously low, and they do good work, taking care of bottle babies and sick kitties, so they can put that towards the next cat who needs extra TLC.

Then, we drove home. Cece was mostly quiet the whole drive, to the point that we kept peeking to make sure she was stil in there. Every once in a while, she gave a very tiny polite mew to let us know that she wasn't sure she liked being stuck in the carrier. I, who was braced for the full on yowling song of her people, wasn't sure what to do with such a sweet girl.

Then we got her home, and sat her carrier on the bed, and opened it up. She was again tentative, but eventually came out. I offered her some treats which were scarfed, and she ate a little food before going under the bed. When we looked for her before bed, she had disappeared thoroughly, and wherever she went is where she stayed. Hopefully, today she'll come out and investigate a bit.

The happy family.

As a result, we cancelled most of our plans for the weekend. I am still going out to meet with a riend for lunch, but Jess has a phone call scheduled with their brother, so they will be hanging out here with kitty. When I come back, Jess will get a little break, and I will sit in with her. If she seems to want company, we'll just stay there. She has water and food under the bed, so if she doesn't want to come out just yet, she doesn't have to. If she wants more quiet time, maybe we'll go to the movies this afternoon, but we'll see.

Tomorrow, we have games planned, so we'll be at home all day for her, and Jess will be in the bedroom at their desk, which apparently is something she's enjoyed with her fosters. The husband played video games, and she would sit on his lap or right next to him. We're hoping she does that for us as well.

All in all, this weekend is about baby.

She's so soft and pretty. She has the tiny pale ring around her eyes like little spectacles, and the softest fur, and the tiniest little meow. (That will probably change once she settles in.).

She'll go to the vet on Monday and get more info on her health and see what her FELV status is. Hopefully we get good news, but if not, we'll take care of her whatever comes.

From what we've seen so far, she is the most chill, laid back cat on the planet. I'm looking forward to seeing if that holds, or if she'll be a little shit once she settles in.

Now that the sun is coming up, I may take her some fresh food, and see if I can spot a baby. We gave her the familiar food last night, but today I may mix in some of the bougie food to see if it will tempt her. She's apparently a picky eater who likes to graze instead of eating the whole can in one sitting, so we'll be watching to make sure she eats enough. We also have enough treats and toppers to give her variety. My favorite is the krill mix that has tiny little shrimps in it. I've slipped Yoda some shrimps and he loves them.

I also would like to get to Sam's Club and get some lobster tails, so I can cook them up for us, and then see if Cece would like some tidbits. She's going to be so very spoiled, even if she doesn't know it yet. (I also need coffee creamer, so I'm not just going to get lobster for the cat!)

I just cant even with her little face. I want to do all the snuggling, and I have to wait for her to feel comfortable. Hopefully she'll come out today and let us shower her with all the affection. And pictures. As soon as pictures are obtained, more will be forthcoming.

For now, I will drink my coffee and let both her and Jess rest.

I know my brother in law will be over this afternoon to meet her, but we'll see if Ms. Celeste would like to make an appearance.

But, hey y'all, we have a cat again. I need to scan her vet records in for both our vet and also the apartments, so I can formally add her to the lease, so that'll be sometime this weekend. No rush.
