I'm having a productive day. So far, I've finished my first
fan_the_vote story, which is posted at
voteworks. It's a pairing in PotC that I wouldn't do normally, but I have to admit, it was kind of fun.
Also, I uploaded the pics from Grandmom's 90th birthday party, and created a little album-type thing. If any of you want to browse through it, it can be found right here. On the 7th. page at the bottom, there's a great shot of Jess with the guestbook box balanced on her head.
Tomorrow, we've got New Moon, which I'm looking forward to. I've got a great crystal point that I'm going to have charged for Grandmom's surgery on Thursday.
I'm really nervous about the surgery. I mean, I know her doctor's confident, but she is 90. I mean, it's got to be risky. I'm keeping up a happy face, but deep down, I'm terrified. I know how lucky I've been to have her this long, but I'm not ready to let go yet. I want her to be there at Jess and my big wedding, dammit. Also, there's the financial side of it, that I'm afraid of. Right now, she's paying the mortgage and all. If something happens to her, it falls on my parents, and by proxy, on Shelly and I. I'll have a little more money available once the bankruptcy goes through, but I had wanted to squirrel it away for Jess and I to eventually get an apartment of our own.
I'll post Thursday evening and let you all know how things went.

Date: 2004-05-18 07:24 am (UTC)You are not responsible for the welfare of your parents, who are both capable adults. They will find ways to survive financially with or without you. Do not allow yourself to become trapped emotionally like that, or it will end up causing huge amounts of strife within your family and yourself, and that's very unhealthy for you honey. You would be surprised at how capable your family can be, when you're not taking care of them all the time.
I love you for the reason that you care so much about everyone. But you have to take care of yourself first. Don't limit yourself, and your life, by putting everyone else first. They wouldn't want that, and I'm sure you don't either. ::hugs::
