beansideThe darling kitty started waking me up at 5:30 this morning and came back every ten minutes until I gave up. I'll be glad when our bedroom is only down the hall from the kitchen, so I can just give her food and go right back to bed. I technically still could, but in the morning when I'm somewhat stiff, the stairs seem a little daunting.
My back if a bit peeved today, but it is going to have to deal. We've got shit to do today. First up, we have some orders coming for groceries, which should arrive fairly early. Second, I've got to go pick up some ham and cheese biscuits, from heavenly ham which will be our Christmas breakfast. Then, a quick stop at the Sam's club to pick up an order with our Christmas dinner.
I mentioned yesterday that we weren't going to Fogo, so instead, for the cost of one person, I got a nice standing rib roast, and some scalloped potatoes, Brussels sprouts and cheesecake. It'll mean that I have to do some cooking, but I'm okay with that. The thing is that I'm going to end up getting a fairly large prime rib, having ordered it from Sam's. For three of us, we definitely don't need a 6+lb rib roast. So I'm debating slicing it into two and giving it a test run tonight. (I just freaking love prime rib.)
Yesterday was not horribly busy, but good lord, patients were demanding as all fuck. I was about ready to smack some of them. I get it, things happen, but you cannot call me on Dec 12 for your yearly MRI that needs a 90minute slot and expect to get it before Jan 1. It's just not going to happen. It's going to be mid January if you're lucky. And right now the chances of you getting lucky are pretty slim, especially if you're only willing to go to one location. I love my job, but for the happiest time of the year, people are not at their best.
After work, I relaxed until it was time for game. I only had two players, but I think it was still pretty fun. The second half is tonight at 7. We also have another game at 2.
I'm hoping that Sam's club will have my order a touch early, because my pick up window is between 1-2pm, so that could be tight. But we'll see. My order from Safeway just arrived. It has horseradish sauce and the brussel sprouts and little cheesecakes for tonight. The Christmas cheesecakes are fancier.
Oooh! Safeway had the molasses they thought they were out of. I can make gingerbread! Probably tomorrow, but it shall be mine!
Okay, time to go grab a shower and start getting together for the day. Everyone have the very best Saturday!
Edited to add: Yesterday the most amazing thing happened. Jess took Yoda for his day of beauty, and the most amazing thing happened. A woman saw him and was talking nice to him, and this dog, who will bark like fucking Cujo in our neighborhood, got all excited and went over to her. Jess warily let him, and the little bastard put his paws on her legs and let her pet and praise him and tell him how good he is. Like this perfectly well adjusted, friendly dog! We're so proud of him...and a little suspcious of what drugs they pump into the Petco. But it made us feel much better about the potential for the apartment.
