Ask me about my fic--something I wrote, character, plotline, even a really short commentary--and I'll give you an explanation, snippet, or something. Kind of like a dvd commentary, but shorter and faster.

Firstly may I just say: I think I am addicted to Deathknell, but like, seriously addicted. Because I had the sickest migraine this morning (flashing lights, blinding pain, auditory hallucinations) and the first three things I did: turn on coffee maker, check deathknell, find drugs. I checked the verse before I sought out drugs. WTF.
I was just wondering if you could give me a geneology of sorts for the DK verse cause I am just a little confused (because I am slow, and easily distracted by shiny things).
Thanks for Writing, it makes my day when I get to read more!

*laugh* That's oddly appropriate, since a good chunk of it was concieved/written while Jess had a migraine.

Let's see...

Morgan Coulson=the former first lady of the USA, and kind of the lynchpin of the universe. Deceased.

Jeff Morgan= Matthew Jeffrey Dean, Grandson of Morgan Coulson, and the rightful President of the USA. Due to this, is wanted dead by current administration.

Christian Kane=Lost Child, Morgan Coulson's first slave, trained as a spy and assassin by Morgan, with sole purpose of gathering intel to keep her grandson safe. Became friends with Jeff after he was freed by Morgan having served until he reached adulthood. Runs the Agency under the auspices of the United Nations.

Nikki Aycock=the elusive Nikki, Morgan's other slave, who was also trained as a spy/assassin. Was Christian's first love, and later trained Jensen to take Christian's place. Deceased.

Jared Padalecki= Orphaned by Deathknell virus, later destroyed property as a teenager, and was enslaved. Rescued by Jeff.

How's that?

Thats great. I think it was the "Morgan" thing that got me turned around. Okay, so here's another question - if Jensen & Christian never knew each other, and Chris and Jeff left at the same time, why does Jensen think that Jeff killed his sister (Nikki)? Wouldn't he have been long gone by the time Nikki died?

Jeff hasn't actually been in the US since he was 10. He and Christian met much later. As for the rest...That'll be revealed soon.

I get the references to most of the CW or other associated people in the Deathknell 'verse. But in the last chapter you introduced Samantha, the produce lady. Is she anyone or just a random person thrown in there?

Also, what inspired this 'verse? It's so elaborate and has so much more detail/backstory than most. Why'd you go there?

If you don't mind the intrusion... (I lurk like crazy because I LOVE the writing here.)

Is there a plan to add to the OT3-verse? I don't know if that's the kind of question you're looking for. :) I've just re-read those stories three times this weekend, and every time I get to Jensen in the rain and I convince myself that something else will happen instead.

I'd like to second the question about what inspired you to write Deathknell. What was the genesis?

I took Samantha to be Samantha Smith of Mary Winchester fame.

OT3-, Deathknell-, JDM/CMM 'verse: anything you want from/about them-- snippets, inspiration, updates soon?, soundtracks, backgrounds, prequels, future time-stamp drabbles, method of writing (since you're collaborating on two of the 'verses -- how do you do it? Each writes something; each writes character; it's all a mix?), how do you get rid of hyperactive, blabbermouth-y fangirls with lots of questions?, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks! ^_^

And I'll third the question of what inspired this verse!

'Course what I'd really perv over would be if you wrote something in the Deathknell verse with Jensen still as a slave (back in the US). Or even another bit of Jared's time as a slave.
*Bambi eyes*
But to be more modest, I'd like to know about the titles for the chapters of Deathknell. Where do they come from, why did you choose them etc?
See? I can be moderate. Oh! And who is Nikki, as in which RL person is she (someone from the cast of Smallville or...)?

From: [identity profile] 1more-sickpuppy.livejournal.com
Oh, so I got Nikki Aycock from the excelent genealogy above. Meg! How suitable.
Instead, I'm wondering how/when Morgan died and how Jensen went from belonging to her, to being drafted to kill Jeff, the man he was apparently trained by Morgan to protect?

I'm curious about the story design process for any of the series you've written. Do you map out an outline? Do you know where the story goes before you put it on paper? What about the overall series, how far out do you have things planned?

How is that that y'all are so AWESOME!

From some of a previous post I gathered they go out to restaurant and scandalize the clientele with the plotting. That stuck with me from the post pre-deathknell printing. It was a hilarious picture, them talking about viruses and slavery and murder and mayhem. *coughs, sorry to jump in I just happen to remember that post a little clearly it seems, running off now*

I fear you don't understand how rabid your fangirls are... *joins keening crowd*

I'd love a snippet from any 'verse. If Deathknell is where your head's at, a pre-series look at any character would be swell.

Weelll since you offer :)
How about a behind the scenes look into...
it is possible for snippet that is post Of Bastard Saints?
Do you two plan on doing anymore of the prequel or maybe even a sequel (it can be short stories really *is hopeful*).
As to JDM/CMM any more of those stories in the future, I keep re-reading; love that verse.
Interesting that Jess started on about the DeathKnell Verse while having a migraine, they do tend to make me think of death and destruction... and now I will stop pestering you and go stalk re-read your last few chapters.

Hi! Yeah, there's more to come in that particular universe, no worries.

We're working on it now, actually.

We do tend to map out an outline, but it's pretty mutable. After that, it's all research, and figuring out what goes where.

The series is loosely planned to the end, but it gets re-evaluated regularly. We have the lovely [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster and [livejournal.com profile] mona1347 as sounding boards for changes in the story. Thanks to them, a character recently got a reprieve from their death sentence, for instance.

*snort* Paging Freud?

Hmmmm...

God, that's a tough one. It depends on the day and who's able to write more that day. A lot of times, i'll go through, and just write, rough out some text. Kind of block the scene out, I guess. Then, Jess'll add the detail work, edit. Then, i'll go through and edit. Or, vice versa.

We've been writing together so long, it's almost second nature.

As far as updates...The next OT3 is in progress. The next Deathknell is 1/3 done. The next JDM/CMM is actually close to done.

And if you had a particular time stamp you wanted to see, I'd consider giving it a go. Just remember, I'm evil.

Sure thing! Pick a character and a verse and a timestamp. Any of them, I can do. Just...as I said, remember that I'm evil.

From: [identity profile] beanside.livejournal.com
*laugh* There's so much still to go on OBS, it's not even funny. Pick a POV and a timestamp, and i'll be happy to give you something.

There's a couple more JDM/CMM's coming up, I'm working on one now.

Most of our fic titles come from song lyrics.

Of Bastard Saints was from an old Skid Row song.

Deathknell has mostly been from Janis Joplin songs, I believe. Though, Under Wandering Stars was Metallica, and Rain Down Fire was from Kane himself.

*grin* Janis Joplin just seemed appropriate, with Me and Bobby McGhee. "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose."

Chad/Jeff are all Alanis Morrisette lyrics.

OT3 are all Foo Fighters lyrics.

You're feeling pretty sassy! Nice that you must have these worlds in your head to that degree.

You know I want to pick Andrew. *bites knuckle* But I was just rereading OT3... I'm going to go with DK tho' since we're all immersed in it.

Jensen, Deathknell, fallout after Morgan's death (how long ago did she die? between him working for her and being with Bentley).

And thank you!

*abuses your offer to ask about your fic*

Do you two have a timeline for when you're going to get an agent and go pro? I'd buy the series to all these verses and I don't even buy books. Really. And I'd strong-arm the collections people at the library into buying them by the dozen.

Do you know Lynn Flewelling (http://www.sff.net/people/Lynn.Flewelling/)? Her Nightrunner series is a fantasy/adventure queer romance. Very good writer, non-cliched, but doesn't sell many. Enough to survive in this winner-take-all publishing climate, at least so far. I mention her 'cause maybe you'd be her agent's flavour.

God. I've been stalking both Deathknell and the OTP3 'verse through LJ's tracking system, and utterly, utterly loving it to pieces. I'd do... um, something, a lot, for a timestamp of Jared still a slave in the US, how he managed to keep fighting and stay strong enough to hold onto his sanity when everything was so ugly...

"So, this is the one?"

Jensen stared at the floor, trying to keep a submissive pose despite the burning hatred that threatened to gag him.

"Somehow, I expected more," the pale man muttered, rubbing pudgy fingers together. "Fine, leave us."

The door closed behind the Pontifex Vicarus silently.

"So you're the one she bought for dear Matty. Do you know who I am?"

Jensen finally looked up, not bothering to mask the hatred and grief in his eyes. "You're the bastard grandson that never could live up to the namesake."

It hadn't always been like this. Jared remembered. Life. Love. His family. But with the whip at his back, and the harness digging into his shoulders, it was hard.

"Stop," his owner said sharply. "Here is good."

"Here," was a barren patch of dirt in the middle of the market. No shade, just the merciless sun on his body.

A fountain and its shade beckoned from a mere ten feet away, and he took a couple more quick steps, dragging the cart with him.

His master flicked the brakes on the cart, and he drew up short, the straps digging in painfully.

It didn't hurt nearly as much as the crop that landed on the tender skin of his hip.

Jared let his head fall forward with a sigh that neared a sob.

The crop landed again, a lighter smack. "Look alive, you misbegotten cretin. We've got a rich one headed our way."

*snickers* My thoughts exactly but I didn't want to be accidentally rude or something. :)

The whole writing process/inspiration thing is fascinating; since this meme started I've been asking different authors basically the same questions, and the answers are really interesting. So, thanks! :) And YAY for fics! \o/

Ohh, timestamp drabble! *thinks* Ok, how 'bout OT3 'verse, something relatively soon? I know it'll probably torture me more than not but what can I say-- I'm a masochist. *grin* [Though, if you want to earn karma brownie points, you could gimme a Jensen hurt/comfort snippet.. if you want... *whistles innocently*]

In any case, thank you! *squishes* You're a sweetheart. ♥

Oh!
And to think that my friend and I used to know all the Alanis lyrics and sing all the time, back in school (that, and the Cranberries, and Skunk Anansie. Ah, the days...). And Janis Joplin came later, and I do know my Metallica. But I wouldn't have recognized any of the titles to be lyrics so it's good to know. Thanks, I've been wondering.

Haha, I saw it's supposed to be Nikki Aycox. Damn, Aycock was much more fun!
