beanside | No wings of wax or endless mountains, tragedies with penniless fountains

It's going to get three whole degrees above freezing here today! It's very exciting. Of course, then tomorrow we're getting another 1-3" of snow, so I guess it doesn't matter if our driveway melts today.

I got anxious yesterday and called Hopkins HR dept to see what was going on. They assured me that I'd been assigned to a pre-boarding coordinator, and that she'd be reaching out soon. Not thirty minutes later, I got an email. I guess things are backed up? Anyhow, they bumped my start date to a week later, which was not welcome news, but I'll deal. But I filled out my forms, and I go for my drug screen at 11 today, so that's something. Occupational health will be contacting me to set up my physical soon.

I have no idea where I'll have to go to do the physical. The last time I worked for Hopkins (briefly), I had to go to a building that was connected to one of the hospitals. Not really looking forward to having to drag to Bayview or the main hospital, but I'll do whatever I need to.

I'm a little annoyed that the start date was moved, partially because it'll fuck up my first paycheck, and partially because it'll mean I'll only get one week under my belt before Dad comes home. I was kind of hoping that I'd have the full two weeks and sort of be settling in by the time I had to deal with him. Nothing I can do about it, and again, I'll deal, but it would have been nice. Also because I'm bored as fuck. I had a countdown, and now it's been changed.

Still waiting for Unemployment to kick in. I'm getting very anxious about it at this point. I really need some money to start coming in soon. I know I could do uber eats, but my ankle hasn't fully recovered from my trip down the stairs last month, so getting out of the car to run that food up might be difficult. Last I heard, they were waiting for Harford County to get back to them. Possibly I'll call this morning, just to touch base.

I have to go today to get more of my ambien. I'm going to have to see if we can use GoodRx or something, since my new insurance card has not yet come in. Fortunately, everything I take except Rybelsus is pretty cheap. I'm a little bit freaked out about the Rybelsus, though. I've got about 10 days worth, but I defintely can't afford the $900 bill for that. I think the manufacturer has a hardship program, I just need to get the email for my clinic, so I can get it. Another thing to do next week.

Okay, guess I should get myself together so I can do my errands. The dogs treats aren't going to pick themselves up. Everyone have a terrific Thursday!
