It's Saturday which means it's games day! Yay!
Yesterday was boring as hell all day. I did nothing at all most of the day and was less than happy about it. Plus, my brain was all over the place, so I couldn't focus if there had been something to do. So, I jumped between apps, checking TikTok for a little while, then jumping to Twitter and scrolling. And so on. I was a texting madwoman, everyone who gave me their number before I left got texted.
In the evening, after my sister got home, Jess and I went out to get Hot Pot. That was so much fun. I wussed out and got the boring pork bone broth, which was basically neutral flavored. Jess got Kimchi, which had a little kick, but was still basically a neutral flavor. Then, we went to the sauce bar and created our masterpieces. Mine was sesame paste, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic and a dribble of chili oil. I also got a bowl of their house sauce that was like a dumpling sauce. You really needed both for the optimal flavor, but once they were mixed together, it was perfect.
Then, we ordered meats and seafood and vegetables, potstickers and rice cakes. The sliced tender beef was okay. Much preferred the sliced fatty beef. I felt like you really needed that little bit of fat to pick up the flavors of your sauce. The snow crab legs were amazing, and I loved them. The corn wasn't as sweet as one could hope, but still tasty. The potstickers were some of the best I've had. And the rice cakes were an unexpected star.
When I think of rice cake, I think of the hockey puck of styrofoam puffed rice cake that you'd put peanut butter on and call it diet food. These were like a pinky sized glutinous noodle that would puff a little and held sauce so well. But my god they turned into little lead weights at the end of the night.
I thought we were going to need to be rolled out of there. I ate so much, it was just silly. You look at the thin little curls of meat and don't think there's a lot to it, but it adds up.
Next time, we'll probably get more adventurous with things to cook. And I'll try a different broth. They have a spicy butter broth that sounded interesting.
Today we shall have Mad Mage, followed by MotW, which shall be a lot of fun.
Tomorrow, it's off to Arundel Mills Mall to pick up my pants and bra, then the rest of the day is penciled in for a tiny pre-employment freak out.
Okay, time for me to get myself together for the day. Everyone have a wonderful Saturday!
