beansideIt's Wednesday! Which means that it's game day! October was such a scheduling nightmare between conventions and other obligations that we scheduled a mid-week game just so it wouldn't be 5 weeks between games.
Yesterday was stressful as hell. They finally started working around 7:30am. The entire time, I was convinced that at any moment, they were going to say "no, I'm sorry, your basement is too much of a mess." That lasted until the trucks left for the day, and the water heater started doing its thing. In the end, they refused to turn back on our oven or stove, citing that they were both old as hell and they had safety concerns, which is fair. But the central heating and hot water heater were both restored after three fucking years. We had the heat on for a few minutes, just long enough for the horrible smell to hit. Y'know how bad the heat smells the first time you turn it on after the summer? Three years worth of it. We left it off last night out of fears that the dust burning off would set off the smoke alarm in the middle of the night, but we'll get it running when Dad gets up. As for the hot water heater, showers have been accomplished, and they were lovely.
Once that was done, it was time for Dad's doctor's appointment. We upped his pain meds slightly, and then had an odyssey to figure out where the fuck we could get them from. CVS fortunately came through, and we'll pick them up this morning.
By the time nightfall hit, both Jess and I were fried. Everything was annoying and just too much. We were going to put our bed together, but neither of us had the energy, so it was another night on the ground. If Jess will carry the package downstairs, I may try to put it together tonight after work. It's supposed to be easy assembly, and after the desk, how bad can it be? Famous last words, I'm sure.
Today will hopefully be a quiet, boring day at work. I trust that J. did my markets yesterday, so there should be the normal amount to do. Of course tomorrow is the in office day, and I believe I'll have inbox, so that's always fun. I'm technically back up, but since the primary person's husband is in the hospital and probably going off life support today, I'm thinking she's not going to be in.
Okay, I suppose it is about time to go put on my big girl panties and get ready for work. We'll test the heat once dad gets up, hopefully without the smoke detector taking notice, and have a lovely day. Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday!
