Can I just say how much I dislike going into the office. Every part of it. The getting up half an hour earlier, the driving in morning traffic, the parking, wearing a mask all day, listening to people bitching and complaining and never shutting the fuck up. Honestly, the only part of it I like is stopping at Starbucks to get a three pump iced white chocolate mocha. It's the one thing that gets me through the day.

Yesterday, people were a bit annoying, needless to say. They were very talky and it was driving me crazy. I sit a couple of rows ahead of everyone else, so I at least have a buffer, but they just would not stop talking. I spent most of the day somewhat overstimulated by the noise.

Then, I got not one, but 3 calls from former manager. First, he had some cases that needed to be corrected, because I'm the only one who knows how to do them correctly. There's a department that does them, but because we changed transport providers, some of these have fallen through the cracks, and S comes to me, because I have updated information. I don't know if the department has the updated info yet or not, honestly. Every couple of days, I get new cases, so I'm assuming not.

At the end of that call, S decided that we needed a meeting with the head Operational Developer to get a handle on what needs to be done about the issues we're having. And, of course, S wants me there to lead/help explain the process. What really needs to happen is communication in the center, so people will stop fucking up these cases, but it has to go through five different levels of management before a watered down and possibly incorrect version goes out to be ignored by the phones coworkers. Because that's the IKEA way.

Then, another one with an escalated Kitchen case that was fucked up for me to fix.

The last one, I initiated. I hadn't heard about the job, and it was my last day of the week, so I wanted his opinions about sending a follow up note. He said that it was a good idea, so I sent a very nice "Hey, how is this going, I'm still interested."

I got back a note saying they'd just finished interviews yesterday, and I'd they'd be sending "decisions and feedback" by the end of the week. The wording just poked my brain in a bad way, and I am now convinced I didn't get it. Plus I have to wait another freaking week to be turned down? Ugh. It is annoying. Also, feedback generally means a half hour meeting going over why you didn't get it and really, do not want. That can be an email ffs.

So, that was my day.

Today, not a whole lot planned until D&D at 7. I'm just going to relax and maybe watch the rest of the first episode and the second episode of the Great British Bake Off.

Everyone have a lovely Friday! It's going to be a beautiful fall day here!
