beansideAw yay, it's Thursday and I'm free for the weekend. Three glorious days to relax and two D&D games to play. (Three if you count Sunday, when I'm a player.)
Yesterday was interminable. J was out, so I had his markets, but even that didn't take me that long. So, I spent the rest of the day bored out of my skull, with no one to talk to. It was obnoxious. I spent a lot of time getting up and walking around the house because I was bored. The one take away from it is that we're temporarily assigned to the other manager, which gives her a team of 25 people. This is primarily so that she can do our PTO requests rather than any real managerial status, apparently. I like her well enough, so I'm okay with this, even if I'd rather go back to my prior manager.
Today, I shall get myself together and once Jess gets up, I shall go to Costco for meat-a-palooza. I'm not overly fond of going there, but I do like their products, and their meat is cheaper than getting it from Walmart. I know I'm getting some chicken, a pack of chuck roasts and steak if they have something that looks nice and not too expensive. Probably pork chops, since they're $2.22/lb. Beyond that, who knows. I've really been in the mood for red meat, and we've had very little of it, so I'm going to try to restrain myself from buying all the steak all the time. I might see if they have any fish that looks promising, since Dad really enjoys that. I'm not a huge fishy fan. I just find the texture off-putting.
As I'm sitting here typing, I'm doing it to the accompaniment of the tiniest snore coming from Boodle. It's the cutest fucking thing, like rainbows and confetti in my heart. I love her so much.
Tomorrow, I have fuck all planned until 7pm D&D. Maybe we'll get around to watching episode two of Sandman? Maybe I'll spend the day obsessively prepping? Who knows! It is mystery.
Saturday, Jess' new dry herb vape pen is supposed to arrive, so we'll probably be playing with that. It's supposed to be a bit gentler on your lungs than straight up smoking the weed. And it doesn't have the really gnarly drawbacks of the cartridges. Also, with a little luck, it'll be relatively easy to use. I'm just looking for clear directions that don't take both of us to figure out, honestly.
Last night, we had our second mid-week Frostmaiden games. The party continued the hunt for the evil wizard's lairs, and ended up leaving Icewind Dale completely, and ending up in the tower belonging to the Arcane Brotherhood. They stealthed through the rooms, avoiding the guard wraiths, and found the clones he'd stashed there. They also found a super fancy sentient sword, but as it is known for eating the souls of people it kills, they left it there, though the paladin really, really wanted it. But alas, his goddess said no.
Another teleport later, and they ended up in Thay, home of the evil archlich boss of said evil wizard. Discretion proved to be the better part of valor and they noped the fuck out of there as soon as they realized where they were.
They headed back to Bryn Shandar to chat with the town Speaker and were stopped by two barbed devils. They offered to help them in the fight against their enemies in return for the wand they'd found. To prove their sincerity, they went and fetched an enemy, pulling the evil wizard out of the jail the party had put him in. He quickly teleported away, and they were right back where they started.
On the plus side, the town Speaker was willing to help them destroy the evil amulet, so that's one less artifact that they have kicking around on their person. Now they just have the evil book and the evil wand.
Unfortunately, schedules being what they are, we won't get to play again for a whole month. But on the plus side, I did find that Wizards of the Coast, who own D&D put some of their one shots up on Roll20, so I'm planning to get them and run a few one shots on the weeks we can't play.
