beansideIt's Sunday, and it's a short day for me! I have character creation for SpellJammer academy, so I took a couple of hours off work. I'm looking forward to a short day.
Yesterday was busier than I thought. So, I had put in a little order at Torrid for a new blazer for the benighted interview. It didn't come in until Thursday morning, so I figured I'd pick it up on Friday. Don't necessarily need the blazer at the moment, but I had ordered a pair of cargo shorts that I still wanted. Went over Friday, and there was a sign on the door saying the store was closed that day, but would be open at 10 the next day. Okay, so we'd had the big storms the night before, maybe someone wasn't able to come in because of that. I went home. I decided at 10 on Saturday to go over when the mall first opened to avoid traffic and people.
Got there at 10, waited about 10 minutes, it didn't open. Said fuck it, and went back to the car. Since we were in Towson, we went to Whole Foods and bought some fruit. Afterwards, I called and they were open, but it was too close to our D&D game to circle back.
D&D was all character creation this time. With two people who haven't played in years, and their first time on Roll20, I had wildly misjudged the time we'd need for that. So, we'll go again in two weeks and actually play. It's good, gives me a little more time to come up with where we'll be starting and all of that. The module's pretty bare bones, since it's meant to be set in any world.
Afterwards, we went off to the store and I finally got my clothes. They're very cute, and should the interview ever happen, I will be good to go. Plus, cargo shorts for knocking around in.
After we got home it was pretty much dinner and bedtime. On the nights we don't have to put Dad to bed, we normally go downstairs early to snuggle and spend some time together. Last night, we watched the first episode of Sandman, which was very beautiful and lush. I really enjoyed it, though I never read the graphic novel. Jess on the other hand did, and spent most of the show giving little squeaks of delight. They said parts of it were a shot by shot remake, and they were thrilled with the cast.
Today, I shall work, and then do character creation for Spelljammer. I think I'm going to play a cleric, depending on what everyone else wants to do. But a fighty cleric could be fun. I mean, still with the heals, since she'll be a life-domain cleric, but definitely leaning more towards being fighty. I think I shall name her Fern. It'll be weird to be playing in a game.
I'm happy being a DM. I'm not one of those people who bemoans being a forever DM. I enjoy it. It gives me a creative outlet that otherwise seems to be blocked off, since I really haven't had the brain power for much in the way of reading and writing. Getting to play once in a while is fun, but it usually reminds me of why I DM. I'm not that good of a player. I tend to be mostly quiet, and then when I do anything, it's usually something that will cause utter chaos. It's my talent. I'm also playing with a mostly new group, so that's always slightly nerve wracking. At least one of my normal players is in the group, so I do know someone. And it's a fandom group, so I know more of them by reputation.
Okay, I'm going to grab something to eat, and get myself in gear. Gotta get myself together for work, boo.
