Monday and I'm the only one awake. The downside of being retail-adjacent is that you work most holidays. The upside is that for some, you get time and a half. I'm not a cookout person, and it's going to be roughly 8 million degrees outside today, so I'm okay with that. Of course, I just realized that I forgot to get something out for dinner tonight, so I'll have to take a look and see what can be defrosted quickly. I think we have some pork chops, and those usually don't take long. I'll go look when I get up to get more coffee.
Yesterday was not particularly busy. The updates were basically nothing, and even with 300 left over from Saturday, we got them done in plenty of time. So, I had a lot of downtime after I did my markets. Overall, it was a boring day. Today will be even worse, as the coworker who does the updates normally will be back, and the markets won't come in until late afternoon. I may do a few trainings on LinkedIn, since that counts towards our year end evaluations.
We celebrated Jess' birthday last night with the good Mexican food from El Saltos and cupcakes. It was as usual, very tasty. Technically, their birthday was last week, but we were away for it. We had Mexican to celebrate then as well.
I'm slowly starting to deal with missing Sam. It still hurts like a motherfucker, but there's been less crying since we brought his ashes home. Boodle has been especially cute and cuddly at night, like she's trying to make up for his absence. A lot of mornings, I have to nudge her off my stomach when the alarm goes off. It's always nice to wake up to a warm tummy and a sleepy kitty. Of course, then I end up laying in bed for a while, just to pet her and tell her what a good baby she is and getting a late start, but I'm okay with that. I can drink my coffee faster.
In other news, I have decided that I now like chai tea. Don't know if it's because Covid changed my taste buds, or if I just grew into it, but I had it on vacation at the Coffee Co, and it was so good. Now I have Tazo concentrate, which is not quite as tasty, but very convenient. I am looking for a good powder now to see if they're even more tasty. There's a few that look promising.
Time to start getting ready for work. Everyone have a lovely Memorial Day!
