Good morning on this cold Saturday. We got about 5 inches of snow yesterday, and the dog was not amused when I took him out this morning. There's only a handful of areas that he trampled down yesterday when the snow was soft. and he was very vexed about where he should do his business. In the meantime, I'm standing out there in a coat and my night gown freezing my butt off. Eventually he figured his shit out, but it was a cold five minutes.

Today, I have nothing planned. Which will inevitably drive me up the wall, as I will want to do something yet have nothing to do. Yesterday, I alternated between pacing the internet looking for new things and playing Township on my phone. It's one of those free to play $$$ to get anywhere fast games. I'm still enjoying it, at the moment. Even if half my town buildings are half built, waiting for supplies that the game gives you in bits here and there.

For lunch yesterday, we ordered from a food truck called Baba's Halal. The food was so good. I ordered a falafel wrap which came with fries and was $10.50. Jess' lamb gyro was about the same price, so a pretty good deal. Plus it's from a local place, which I always prefer if possible.

Dinner on the other hand was meh. We got from a new Greek place in Hamden, and it just wasn't great. Hamden is normally a foodie mecca in Baltimore, so I was hoping for much more. Oh well, they can't all be Reindeer Games, as they say in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Then, it was time to play the superhero game, Masks. Jess was unfortunately down with a migraine and [personal profile] poisontaster wasn't feeling well either, so it was just four players.

The premise of the game is that all the big superheroes have been zapped to another universe by Dr. Dastardly's displacer beam, and all that's left is a few sidekicks and the teenage crop of up and coming heroes. The team belong to that group, all high school seniors. We have HOLLIS, a newborn android who was liberated from Dr. Dastardly, Jayden, who was experimented on by aliens and is now a part-crab creature. Next up is Amara, who is one of the Doomed. She has phenomenal powers, but also a cosmic clock counting down the moments to her untimely demise. Last, is Lola, a reformed criminal, who is still a bit prone to doing the wrong thing, for the right reason now.

They reside in Halcyon City, where there's a text alert system to notify the populace of super villain attacks. The team gets one such alert that there's a bank robbery in progress. The villain Shimmer is in the bank with hostages!

HOLLIS and Jayden decide to go in the back, Amara busts in the front door using illusions to distract, and Lola stays out front doing crowd control on the police. Immediately, Shimmer grabs a hostage, putting them between her and Amara. HOLLIS walks right into the situation and attempts to reason with Shimmer, convincing her that they will help her rob the vault. They go down to the vault and pretend to work on opening it, while Jayden gets the rest of the hostages out.

With that accomplished, HOLLIS feels their job is done. They took on Asimov's laws of robotics for themselves, so the humans will not be harmed, and the police can handle the rest. Frustrated, Shimmer moves back to the teller's drawers, getting all the money they can find. Jayden charges, and tackles Shimmer! Then, they all turn tail and run.

In the meantime, the cops are gearing up to charge in and arrest Shimmer. Wanting to give her friends time to solve the situation, Lola wades into the fray, and starts kicking cop ass.

HOLLIS is very upset by this, and goes to help the cops up. Shimmer teleports outside the bank, and the team converge upon her. At the last moment, Lola recognizes her as a graduated student. Her younger sister is in their class, but has been out a while, sick. Lola realizes that she's trying to get money for her sister's treatment, and they allow her to escape with the cash, and begin strategizing how they can get more for her.

A visit to one of Lola's shady contacts later, they find that the Mayor's daughter has been kidnapped by Mr. Madness. Only one person, Madam Hive, knows the location of his secret lair. Madame Hive has been scouting for a neural processor she needs for her mind control ray, and is planning a heist at Chromium Labs tonight!

The team sneaks into Chromium off some stellar rolls by HOLLIS. Madame Hive shows up, and the team send HOLLIS in to get and disable the neural processor. They give it to Madame Hive, who immediately slots it into place. Lola thinks quick and flatters the villain until she gives up the location they need. A brief tussle with Madame Hive ensues, that sees Amara's magical constructs save them from harm while they run like hell.

They make their way to the lair, a floating helicarrier, and manage to get up there and sneak into an unoccupied hangar bay.

We ended it there, with the team preparing to fight against Mr. Madness and his cyborg minions!

Now, I shall have some more coffee, and see what the day is going to bring!
