There should be a rule that your body will let you sleep in on your birthday, but apparently, my brain did not get the memo, because here I am. 6am came and both Jess and I were just awake. Now we're both one cup of coffee down, listening to my sister chatter. On the plus side, there's a dog curled up between us on the sofa, which is very sweet.
Yesterday wasn't as bad as I expected. Dad's doctor was in a holiday charitable mood, and didn't end up feeling like a bad daughter. It went smoothly, and we were home and settled in within an hour and a half.
My new work computer seems to be working well. It found the wifi,I was able to hook up the monitor with no problems, and I let it run updates all yesterday morning, so I should be good to go on Sunday.
Then, I found a happy surprise! Venom: Let There Be Carnage was finally available to rent, instead of just buying! For $4.99, I could justify it. Let me just say, OMG, I love this movie. It's bonkers in the best way. I totally am team Eddie/Venom. At it's core, it was totally a story about the love of one man and his symbiote, and that was beautiful. Woody Harrelson was suitably weird as the serial killer turned monster, though I wish Naomie Harris had more to do. Unlike a lot of superhero movies, it was only as long as it needed to be, running at about an hour and a half. Tom Hardy continued to be charming as one of the few people who can use the royal we. All in all, do recommend.
I'm glad we got that treat, as after some serious thought, I cancelled our tickets to Spider-man for Saturday. I really, really wanted to, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. With Covid cases surging and the variants, it just seemed like it would be irresponsible, even masked. After I'd cancelled it, I looked at the seating for our show and found that the seat next to us had been taken, so I'm glad I made the decision.
Today shall be a chill day, with nothing exciting going on. I'll probably go forth and get my Chinese dinner, even if we'll do cupcakes and presents tomorrow. I kind of want my General Tso's chicken today. Plus, I don't feel like cooking.
Okay, tis about that time to go forth and have more coffee so I can be a couch potato. Have an awesome Friday, y'all.
