beansideSurvived my day at the office. My back hurts from the unfamiliar chair, and the back of my ears are sore from the mask straps, but otherwise, I came out of it just fine.
The place was a total ghost town. If I saw 20 other people, It was a lot. Kind of weird for an office that housed at least 100 people. I was able to take a seat off in the boonies, where it was just the manager I was shadowing with and me.
The shadowing went well. I got to see a lot of what a manager does day to day, which was interesting. I probably learned a little more than I should have about some coworkers FMLA status and corrective actions, but I suppose that's all part of it. All in all, I'm really grateful that she was willing to come into the office to show me her job. Here's hoping I get to put all of it to use.
The meeting was...something. It was for our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion forum, which I definitely feel passionate about. The facilitator was one of our HR managers, and she was very good at going off topic and using somewhat tortured metaphors. I was not a fan of her speaking style at all. She was also long-winded, to the point that I don't think we finished the module at all, even though we ran about 20 minutes past our scheduled time. There were some good things part of it, but overall, I'm not sure why it couldn't have been online.
8 days til vacation! Starting to think about packing and what we need to take. So far, it's showing as partly cloudy and in the high 70's, which would be ideal. Here's hoping it holds.
Gracie is doing okay. Still eating and drinking. She's definitely starting to fight me more on her medicine, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. She's not 100% yet. But I'll take what I can get. Hopefully, another week of antibiotics will see her back to her usual self.
In the meantime, I'm back to work in my home office today, in a comfortable chair, which is good. I missed Jess and the animals while I was at the office. Okay, everyone have a good Wednesday!
