And yet no matter how good the weekend is, Sunday eventually shows up. 6am felt especially obnoxious and my alarm sounded especially loud this morning. I was all snuggled in and I really didn't want it right then. Another hour or so would have been nice. I wonder if it feels so early because I don't hear my sister moving around like I do on a weekday. Maybe that lightens my sleep a little in anticipation of waking up so that the alarm isn't such a shock to the system. Oh well, I'm up now.

The weekend was pretty quiet aside from a few errands run. Yesterday I made an early trip to the pharmacy to pick up my blood pressure meds, and came home. Then, after dinner, I ran my sister up to the grocery store to pick up some stuff for her blues festival concert today (outdoors, thankfully). In between of course, we had Monster of the Week, but really it was a mostly quiet day. I'm never sure if I like that. I feel like weekends should be time to Get Shit Done. There just wasn't much to do, though, so I spent a large chunk of the weekend being a frustrated border collie.

On the plus side, there was more time to work on the Monster of the Week mystery, which was a whole three paragraphs this time! After finally killing Dessa and introducing the demon last game, I figured we'd go a little more Scooby Doo and give our heroes a nice lower stakes mystery.

Our heroes were called into the Jewish Community Center because there was some strange things afoot at their day camp. Property was being destroyed, and a worker had gone missing. Most recently, Tina, the leader of their women's group had gone up to look around and something had hit her, sending her into the side of a cabin, and breaking her hip. The Rabbi would like for the hunters to find the creature responsible.

Some library work finds that there's a legendary creature in the area, the Boggy Creek Monster, aka the Southern Sasquatch. They also find that the land was willed to the JCC, but the will was contested by a local developer Elion Blades, who wanted to build luxury cabins on the property.

The woman who was injured turns out to be an elderly hunter, and there is much rejoicing that no tap dancing is involved in the discussion. She didn't see who hit her, but reckons that it was something big. She also found tracks of the creature, which appeared to be large and humanoid.

The hunters go to their longtime contact, Andi, who lives in a luxury cabin that abuts the camp. She has some information on the Boggy Creek Monster, and gives them the number of an expert she consulted with for her upcoming movie about it.

The expert turns out to be a squirrely little man with a host of trail cams. Including a couple that it snuck into the JCC camp. They check the SD cards and find a blurred recording of something huge rushing past the camera after the attack on Tina. He provides more lore about the monster, notably that it's mostly active during the night and that it has only attacked one man, who shot at it first.

They investigate the camp, meeting with the forewoman, who the former Crooked turned Apprentice spell slinger takes a liking to. She tells them about the missing workman and the problems they have. It seems that the vandalism has been confined to slashing of upholstery and mattresses. The Spell Slinger posits that they have a problem with fiberglass filling.

They look around the area that the missing worker was last seen, and find a large human-ish foot print.

They go to visit with the couple who were previously attacked and find that it reached through the window towards the wife, and was scared away by the husband and her brother, returning from a hunting trip. Later, the creature returned and was shot by the husband, and sliced his back up and threw him to the ground before running.

Then, it's back to the cabin for a night stakeout. They take along the expert, since they've also positioned his trail cams all over the camp. A few hours later, the Monster shows up, and starts wrecking shit. They trap him, and start interrogating him. He just wants the people off his property, but he didn't hurt anyone. He used to have these woods to himself, but people keep pushing him further back. But there's something else in his territory. It smells like a winter wind, and he thinks it's probably a bad person.

They make quick plans and get the Boggy Creek Monster, whose name is Jaiden's assent to relocate him to a large national park where he can have miles of territory. They also agree to get him blackberries. The expert is pressed into driving said monster to his new home.

The monster says that he noticed the cold wind spell over by the campfire site, and the hunters go over, finding another eight foot tall creature. They trap it, and find an orc who eventually gives up that he was hired by the real estate developer to stop the construction and convince the JCC to sell the property. He also killed Nicky for having seen him. They find that the real estate developer is cousin to the Queen of the Winter Court of Faerie, so probably not someone to be killed.

Instead, they negotiate with him, making him aware that the plot has been discovered and stopped, and the camp barred to the fey. The Spell Slinger who is filthy rich, offers a different plot of land as a bribe, and Elion agrees to leave the camp in peace.

It's decided that it's time to return to the Winter Court, and free the human slaves who were left behind, so we leave it there and plan to pick up with that the next week!

And on that note, it is time for more coffee and work. Boo! Everyone have an awesome Sunday!

My two sentence summary of the case in my notes is: Day camp vandalized by the two people who most want it gone, a sasquatch and an evil Fae real estate developer. LOL.
