Good morning, everyone! I would like to still be asleep, but it is a work day, so here we are. More coffee is imminent.
We had a good day yesterday! I did the incidental stuff first thing, as soon as I'd had my second cup of coffee. The vacuum had a nozzle that didn't want to suck up the popcorn, so that required some finagling, but eventually, I got the backseat clean. It's still stained and looks like hell, but it's clear. Then, off to get my pills, then back to relax for an hour before we had to leave.
We dropped my sister's car off for it's oil change, and then we headed for DC. The drive wasn't at all bad. I'm out of the habit of taking longer drives thanks to COVID, but before we knew it, we were down in DC. We got their ridiculously early, so we drove around a touch and grabbed a Jamaican beef patty from 7-11. For the first time ever, they had a mild version, and thus I did not need to also get antacids! I love those things. They're just a perfect little snack wrapped in virulently yellow pastry dough.
Then, we picked up
coyotegestalt (who is awesome, and it was lovely to finally meet) and made the IKEA trek! Holy shit, that place is huge compared to the one by us! We wandered, and Picked up a few little things, and then went to the harder business of desk shopping! A desk was decided upon, and procured (after some more minor shopping) and we headed to the checkout. Then, a trip to the Swedish food mart later, we were done. Unfortunately, the restaurant was absolutely insane, so no meatballs for us!
The chosen desk fit easily in the RAV4, yay! We got it back to the apartment, and then, famished, went out to eat! They recommended a nearby Korean/diner place, and off we went!
The food at this place was amazing! I had the Korean short rib platter, and ate almost the whole thing. For an appetizer, we had the Kimchi fritter, which was this delicious kimchi pancake. Jess and I devoured it, like two people who had only eaten a Jamaican beef patty each.
On the way out, we ran into another of our D&D crew, and got to say hello!
After that, it was time to say goodbye and head on home, with a quick stop at Dairy Queen for a cookie dough blizzard for Jess.
All in all, it was an awesome day. It's always great to finally meet up with fandom/D&D friends, especially since we've been playing together now for heading on 9 months. There are still plans to do an all MotW brunch sometime soon.
I'm a little bit tired today, but it's the tired of having accomplished things for a change. Which is much better than the tired of having done nothing all weekend. My only sad is that Old Navy was such a sauna that I didn't get any new t-shirts. Ah well, there's always online.
Okay, time to consider getting prepared for work. My one coworker is out this week on vacation, so I'll be doing his markets in addition to mine. It's going to be a long week and some change. Everyone have a lovely Sunday!
