beansideAnd my days off are over. At least it feels like it was a productive weekend.
Yesterday was a somewhat busy day for us. First up, I went and picked up my prescription from Walgreens. I dislike that we can only use Walgreens or CVS now, instead of the little pharmacy we were using. It sucks and it's annoying. But what are you going to do.
Then, it was time to venture out to the movie theater for the first time since Birds of Prey, which we saw back in February 2020 in Philadelphia. We went to see Army of the Dead. The experience was weird. It was strange, and felt a little daring to be out in public. We left our masks on except when we were shoving popcorn into our faces, which is Cinemark's policy. (Would have left it on anyway.) The theater was not at all crowded--it was us and maybe three other couples. We were all spread out through the theater, which helped to calm my nerves a touch.
The movie was a blast. Perfect return to the theater movie. It was big, and loud and over the top. A few generally effective emotional beats. The bad guys (the humans, not the zombies) were impressively evil, and you were thrilled when they got their comeuppance. The zombies were of the running variety, which I don't mind at all. Also, not a spoiler since it's in the trailer, zombie tiger!! I love the zombie tiger, whose name is Valentine. Anyway, the movie was a lot of fun, and never once did I think about the time, or anything else extraneous. Also, from a wow am I gay standpoint, there was a lot of attractive women in this movie. Definitely worth watching when it comes on Netflix in a week.
Then, it was off to the hellscape that is Walmart for the big grocery shopping expedition of the month. Ugh. I fucking hate Walmart. But, they're cheap. I will say, next time, I'm going to just shop online and have the nice people bring my order to the car. It's totally worth the tip, just to not do that again. Had a sugar crash while waiting in line, and had to suck down part of a sprite, which tasted like ass. I just can't deal with soda anymore. It just tastes bad to me. Still, we got a shitton of stuff that will hold us for a couple of weeks, which is good, because I'm not doing that again.
After that, it was back to make the cream sauce for our Swedish Meatball dinner, which was very tasty. I ate way too many meatballs.
Today, back to work. Sundays are always a little weird, because everyone is doing other stuff in the house. My sister is getting ready to do laundry, Jess is helping get our clothes together, and there I am, puttering on the computer. The joy of retail adjacent work.
