I am not awake yet. I mean, I woke up at 6:15, but I'm still kinda bleh. Since I was awake, I got up for Dad, and let Jess sleep. They had a nasty migraine yesterday, so it was better that they get the extra rest. I on the other hand, would most likely not have gone back to sleep, and would have been up by 7:30 anyway, because my body is a dick about stuff like that.
I've been on the new medication for a few days, and so far its okay. I had one slight sugar drop, but not bad at all. Just enough that I felt it. I ate a cookie, and it came right back up. Of course, apparently this is just the loading dose, so it's not expected to make much of an impact. They just low ball it because of the potential side effects. So far, I haven't had those, so hopefully it'll continue. It hasn't made much of a difference in my blood sugar readings, so I'll probably have to go up to 7mg after 30 days of 3mg.
Of course, yesterday, I probably overwhelmed the poor med with some frankly amazing Italian food. We tried Il Basilico Trattoria in Timonium for the first time, and it was so good. The Gnocchi Caprese was delicious, and their marinara sauce was some of the best I've ever had. My sister had a little bit of everyone's leftovers, and we're seriously considering going back for tonight's payday carryout meal.
Baltimore County sent another email, and Dad's reset for his shot on next Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the only clinic that had availability was in Randallstown, which is about a 25 minute drive in a low traffic time. Unfortunately, the appointments were all in the morning, so we'll be leaving 45 minutes early. This will give him ample time to tell me all about his days in the Army Reserves for the five hundredth time. I love him, but the man can talk. And I'll be a captive audience. Since the clinic is in a more ethnically diverse area than what we live in, I'm sure on the ride home at least, I will be treated to the entirely cringe-inducing discussion of how his family are all racists and he is not. He tries, but he still has a lot of privilege to unpack, and at 79 years old, I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. (Hell, I still have a lot of privilege to unpack, so I can't really blame him.)
We're about halfway through the Snyder Cut, and it's much better than the Whedon version, but damn, it's all Very Serious Business. Also, it could probably have been about an hour shorter without some of the very sweeping establishing shots. It's a very pretty movie, but holy pretension Batman! I do love Affleck's Batman. He's just so damn tired. There is so much shit to do, and he's going to do it, but he's going to be just over all of it. Also, Snyder's need to have Jason Momoa and Henry Cavil shirtless is lovely. That is just some nice fanservice, and I for one appreciate the hell out of it. Also, Diana is much less sexualized in this version. Also appreciated.
Today, once Jess gets up, we shall interrupt the Snyder Cut with the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I am being so good at waiting til they get up. It's not easy-I want this episode in my eyeballs now.
My sister is going to visit friends for a birthday party on Saturday afternoon (just her and them-not an actual party) so I'll probably do the Amish Market solo this afternoon. I really don't know what to get this week. It's supposed to be nice, so maybe I'll try to grill out one night. The steak subs went over well and they were dirt simple to cook, so maybe more of them, too.
For now though, it's time to put on pants and wake the fuck up with some more coffee.

Date: 2021-03-19 06:17 pm (UTC)that dinner sounds delish! I had forgotten today is payday - maybe I'll splurge and get something a bit different myself.
I'm currently downloading The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and whenever that's done hope to dive in. I like both characters/actors, and can't wait to see how it goes

Date: 2021-03-20 03:20 am (UTC)I just finished the Snyder special. I too couldn't do it all in one sitting. You're not wrong that it could be all least an hour shorter. Cut back on so many of those drone shots and the s-u-p-e-r-s-l-o-w-m-o every other scene. Once again the man has an overly loud soundtrack and everyone has to speak very lowly so we know it is so very serious and dramatic. I too appreciated those bare chests on Henry and Jason for so many scenes. I did think it was ridiculous that Diana went exploring in her spike heels on Crete. I know the fan boys are all orgasmic but yeah, not me.
good luck with the new medication!

Date: 2021-03-20 06:30 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed the Snyder Cut, although it was deadly serious business, and I spent a fair amount of time mocking it.
