beansideToday's subject line is brought to you by the sudden musing of "I wonder if youtube has that David Cook cover of Radiohead's Creep?" Answer, yes. Yes it does. Youtube has almost anything you could want.
The trip to the Fairgrounds was a bust. Dad couldn't have the vaccine because he had a flu shot too recently. We're going to go back on Monday. It went pretty smoothly, and my back only hurts a little more, so Monday shouldn't be a problem. (Though it'll mean burning another day of PTO, because this shit is always my job. I'm not bitter, though. Okay, I'm a little bitter.)
It's a shame we're not to rollout phase 2, because then we could both get our shot. Since there's evidence that you can get Covid multiple times, I will definitely be getting the shot when it becomes available for me. Dad's getting Moderna, which of course means we have to do this twice. I'm hoping for the one and done Johnson & Johnson one. But because of the diabetes, they may want to give me one of the two dose ones, too.
I spent yesterday morning on a bit of a spending spree. Nothing major-I think the most expensive thing was a new pair of sandals for Jess. We got her Birkenstocks, which should last forever, and will be comfortable for her walks with the dog hopefully. Aside from that, we hit up Old Navy for some tank tops, and more leggings, since I live in those fuckers. Also, I got some cute black and leopard print tennis shoes for me. All stuff we needed, but probably wouldn't have gotten without the stimulus check. I mean, we'd have gotten it eventually, but I probably would have gone for Walmart brand shoes instead of the brand. I'd been eyeing these sneakers on Yours Clothing, which is a UK based company that has cute wide width shoes, but at $52, I couldn't justify them. But for once, I decided to treat myself. (Seriously, if you have wide boat feet like me and want cute, dainty shoes, they're an awesome option.)
One thing that the current era has all over when I was younger is the options for fat people. I was looking at my plethora of rings, all of which are feminine and delicate, and remembering back when to get something in my band size I had to go for chunky, generally ugly men's rings, or shitty (usually still chunky and ugly) jewelry from the plus size women's catalog that would turn your finger green. Now, the least dainty thing I have is my wedding band. And if I want more pretty things, I can go on Amazon and find almost anything in my size relatively inexpensive (since I favor silver).
Today, I shall relax, and baby my back as much as I can. Maybe watch the Snyder cut of Justice League. Dad's definitely not getting his bloodwork this week. Maybe next week, since there's a decent break between Monday and Friday. I need the time to gird my loins for the next round.
