Busy day yesterday. We went to the bank first thing, and took out some cash for the week. Then, it was off to get coffee, as we had enough for one pot, and with four people who generally drink 2 cups each, that is nowhere near enough. Once coffee was obtained and drank, we decided to go to the Amis Market relatively early, in the hopes it would be a little less crazy.

Fortunately, it was slightly less of a hellscape, though not by much. I ended up getting a beef brisket, two racks of baby back ribs, apple sausage, maple turkey back and some sweet Lebanon bologna. I was apparently a role model for this one older lady who kept looking at what I had and saying "I'll have some of that, too." The turkey bacon and bologna tasted pretty good to me, raising my hopes for tonight's brisket experiment. Even if it's a little better, I'll take it. I'm not expecting perfection--I think my taste buds are too warped for that. Once we have heat again, I'm going to get two of the bacon wrapped stuff pork loins. They looked fucking amazing, but I don't think they'd cook well in the crock pot. I want that bacon getting crisp. In the end, it was just under $100, which is pricey, but if it works, I'll pay the extra $$ for food I can eat.

Then, it was off to the new dispensary to get Jess' weed sleepytime pills for another month. The store gave them a 20% discount, since they're still basically a new patient. There seems to be alot more sales for this dispensary, which is nice. Though it says a lot about the markup that they can offer that big of a discount regularly.

Then, we came home, and my sister went to do laundry. While she was gone, we watched Pompeii, which was meh. It was very pretty, the villain was appropriately evil, and the hero was pretty. I had trouble seeing Emily Browning as anything but Laura from American Gods, and hearing Mad Sweeney going "You're an asshole, dead wife," so that was a tad distracting. Also, being that they only had torches, the lighting was really bad, and half the time it was hard to tell what was going on. It was especially harsh on the Black actors, who half-disappeared into the shadowy half light. Also, we were an hour and a half into Roman politics before we had any volcano action. In a movie called Pompeii.

Today, is back to work while the snow falls prettily onto the ground. Right now, it's coming down at a pretty decent clip. From where I'm sitting, looking out the sliding glass door, it's a pretty fairy tale scene. I just need some deer to wander across the back yard, and I'd be set.

I really love these few minutes where I'm the only one awake. It lets me sort out my thoughts before the day starts, and I have to start being social again.

Yeah, it seemed like the director just didn't really know how to light Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to good effect. Which sucks, because he was the best part of that goddamn movie.

glad you obtained the essentials (cash, coffee & good meat) especially since it's snowing again. who'd want to venture out in that? it's great that you're finding some meats that taste better to you; it's gotta be so sucky to have stuff taste off or even bad
