Over the weekend, we did another puppy transport, our sixth since December. This time, it was an emergency transport, coming out of South Carolina. Apparently, it's still legal to shoot your dog as euthanasia in SC, so this jackass decided that beating the dog to get at his wife wasn't enough. He had to kill his wife's dog, too. They'd moved her from Animal Control to a vet's office, because he was showing up daily with his gun, demanding her back.
So, y'know, I was expecting a skittish, terrified dog. Instead, out stepped this beautiful, 8 year old golden retriever, with her head high, and her tail wagging. She wanted to meet everyone and get love. Her only issues were that she was afraid to sleep in the moving car, and when I got Jess and the puppy in the car, she got nervous, thinking I was going to leave her.
She let the puppy (who was along for the ride, heading to her forever home)snuggle her, and was an absolute sweetheart. So, y'know, this is why I do rescue. To give innocent dogs who deserve so much better than they get a chance. Also, we put in an application for her. *grin*
Other things that make me happy?
Today is Tuesday! Which means American Idol (So Simon can let out all the bitchiness I wish I could.) Fringe (because I can't get enough of JJ Abrams' pseudoscience. Also, Daddy and Peter Bishop are AWESOME.) And of course, Leverage! 2nd season For the Win!

Date: 2009-02-03 06:38 pm (UTC)I didn't realize Fringe was back tonight! Yay! I love that show. *g* And Leverage is a dangerous addiction because I always want to stay up and watch it after I return from the theatre even though it's LATE and I should go to bed. Leverage is so gooooood though!

Date: 2009-02-03 08:21 pm (UTC)The Goldie's former owner's husband? Is not even people, let alone qualifying for "good" or "bad". His poor wife, though, deprived of the company of such a lovely creature--though I'm sure she's relieved the dog is out of danger.
People. Can't live with 'em. Can't shoot 'em.

Date: 2009-02-03 10:59 pm (UTC)Our 2nd puppy is a beagle and he was a rescue dog....we love him to pieces and its taken a little over a year to finally get him to not cower when we reach for him to pet him. I about cried the other day when I realized he jumped on my lap of his own will...instead of having to be coaxed up and conviced we wouldnt' beat him for it.
People suck...and I cna't get over what they think they can do to innocent animals. THEY are the animals.
now i'm going to go cuddle my pup just because.
