For some reason, I'm up very early for a Sunday. I woke up at 5, and just couldn't get back to sleep. Go figure. I figured it was better to just get up than to disturb Jess with tossing and turning. I'll go to bed early tonight to make up for it.
So, apparently, one of the bonuses of being a 911 dispatch is the discounts. In Maryland, I'm considered a first responder, with all the discounts that involves. One of them, I'm going to wander over to the AT&T store to check out. It's a cell plan called "FirstNet." It's not bad, and it gives the phone priority in a disaster. I'm considering getting a work phone, so I can leave that on an audible alert, in case I get called into work early, and keeping my normal for social stuff. Because I get a LOT of spam calls, so I cannot leave that on anything but vibrate, especially if I end up doing nightshift. I haven't decided if this is an awesome idea, or just my urge to get something shiny, but it's not that expensive, so I'll probably go for it.
My sister has a baby shower at 3pm today, so I think Jess and I are going to go out for lunch around 11am. It's not going to be anything super amazing, but I really kind of want pasta or soup, salad, and breadsticks. And maybe tiramisu.
Yesterday was productive. We took the dog for his grooming and then got lunch. Then we went to Staples and I got a binder and some sheet protectors. I was going to get a new bag, but I couldn't find one that I liked. The backpack that IKEA gave us for our laptops is a really nice bag, but not particularly roomy. After that, we stopped at Lidl so I could hit the bathroom, and then it was time to pick up a newly peeled puppy.
Then, I came home and studied. And studied. And typed out the review questions and studied some more. I am relatively certain that I know what I'm doing on this one. As long as I don't freeze up tomorrow, I'll be good.
As I mentioned yesterday, this is going to be a long week. I'm sure observations are going to be a little grueling. It's not supposed to be an evaluation, but I still want to make a good first impression.
But then, next weekend, we're going to get out of the house overnight, which I am excited about. My sister says she can handle dad for 17 hours so we can have a little breaky break. We're going down to the casino in Arundel Mills and having a couples massage and spending the night. We haven't decided where we're eating after the massage yet, but we do have a brunch reservation. I'm looking forward to the massage especially. I haven't had one since late 2020. I'm hoping with the new job to occasionally be able to afford one.
Ah look, the sun is finally up. Going to be another rainy, dreary day as storm Ophelia works her way back out to sea. For now, I shall go grab more coffee. Everyone have an amazing Sunday!
