Thanks to D&D last night, I slept like a log and actually stayed in bed until 8!  I probably could have lazed a little longer, but a small cat kept coming in and bouncing on me to request her breakfast, so I gave in to the inevitable and got up.  She's very demanding, but also too adorable to be cranky about it.

I had a nice day yesterday.  We watched the long-delayed Spider-man: No Way Home, which I enjoyed more than I expected to.  I'd been thoroughly spoiled for the entirety of the movie, so none of the cameos were a surprise, but they were still a lot of fun.  All of the prior Spideys and villains seemed to be having a hell of a good time.  The MCU Spidey films have really made him feel more like a 17yr old kid, which I appreciate.  It made it feel less like the idiotball was going around--it was just a sweet kid trying to do his best and fumbling along.  All in all, it was a lot of fun and even managed to give me a few feels.

I may kill my brother in law.  I woke up this morning to an email about my recent Amazon purchase.  He seems to have bought the movie Uncharted, on my account.  I mean, I wanted to see it, but I was planning to wait for it to come to rental.  Or alternately free on HBO max or something.  Fucker owes me $20.  And we're going to have a chat about buying movies that will automatically come off my debit card.  He's lucky there was money in there.   It's not a big deal, but it is annoying.

Today, we have nothing planned.  It's a dreary, rainy day, so I don't know that we're going to do much.  Also, the positivity rate in MD is back up above 6%, so I'm not feeling comfortable going out to lunch, and with the dog and cat both having vet visits next week, I can't afford to buy for the whole family, so unless we go and pick up and eat in the car, there's not a whole lot for us to do.  So, we'll probably take it easy--maybe I'll watch Uncharted, since I apparently own it.

As I mentioned last night was our first D&D game in over a month!  God, i missed it.  We started the game, with the characters having gotten a rest day in, and not one, but two full nights of sleep, which has been at a premium lately.  Alas, it was to end, as they were awoken by their speaking stones, with the Easthaven captain of the guard calling that the town was under attack by Dzaan, the wizard they'd executed earlier in the campaign.

They rushed to help, and found Dzaan in a local tavern, standing over the unconscious form of Myrin, the wizard who'd taught the party gem magic.  (The ability to store spells in gemstones and cast from them.)  A battle ensued, as the party fought fiercely to protect their friend (And keep the severely powerful evil wizard from learning how to do gem magic).  Dzaan had raised two zombies from the members of the town guard to help keep people distracted.

The party won, but not before Dzaan tried to kill his simulacrum (made real boy and adopted by the party) Gamin with Power Word Kill.  The party was not having this, and counterspelled it in a clutch high roll before the rogue blasted Dzann with his laser pistol at point blank range, ending the fight.  Dzaan, being a high-level wizard is not dead, as he keeps a clutch of clones ready for such an eventuality.  If anything, now he's pissed.

He does a mass sending to warn the party that he'll be watching, and does a botched scrying spell.  Fortunately the paladin rolled well, and he was unable to use his favorite spell, as he needs to be able to see to do it.  (His favorite spell is Meteor swarm.)

After a short rest, the party continued on to the Black Cabin they'd heard about a few sessions ago where magical experimentation is said to be taking place.  They found a note, a charred skeleton and a relic, which exploded when the paladin and the sorcerer picked it up to the tune of 47 points of damage.  Thanks to the note and blueprints, they were able to puzzle out what needs to happen for the relic to be viable.  It's believed that it is to control the weather, possibly breaking the everlasting winter?

We wrapped there, and scheduled for two weeks, when we'll be on vacation.  Since I got a suite specifically for this eventuality, it's all good.

Okay, I believe I'm going to have another cup of coffee now.  Everyone have a lovely Saturday!
