Actually, it seems like the adulting usually costs more money than not. Still, this weekend, I committed a minor adulting.
Namely, we went and got our eyes checked, and ordered new glasses, which was SO overdue. Thank the lord and lady for decent insurance. All in all, for Jess and I, it was just under $500, which includes two pairs of glasses for each of us. Most of it was for the glasses we got at Pearle, since Jess’ glasses are literally held together with tape and crazy glue and they were faster. We ordered a second pair at Zenni optical, but that can take up to three weeks.
I splurged on the one from Zenni, and ordered Transitions lenses, which I’m excited about. My eyesight changed enough that the doctor all but ordered me to get checked for diabetes, which is fun. Everything looked okay in my eyes, they’ve just gone downhill a lot.
It’s been three plus years, so I’m not worried.
Aside from that, things have been okay. I had various fines I knew nothing about, so I had to do hella adulting to get my car’s registration done. I was driving on an expired tag for nearly a month before I could pay off everything, so that was stressful. I work about a quarter of a mile from a police station, so driving to and from was stressful, as I watched for cop cars and worried that if they noticed me, they’d Impound my car. Much fun. It’s all legal now and yet I still find myself getting anxious when I see a cop.
I’m looking forward to the next paycheck on Friday, as there’s less payments to make with it, and I might even be able to get some jeans and underwear that I desperately need. Our sweetest puppy is a little bit pathological about eating my (worn) underwear and jeans. We thought we’d solved it with a lidded laundry bag, but turned out he learned to still get into it. Total count now: 12 pairs of underwear and 6 pairs of jeans. If he wasn’t so damn cute I could hold onto being pissed off better. But, considering that our last dog was aggressive and attacked me multiple times (hardcore—I have multiple impressive scars and nerve damage), I just can’t stay worked up.
Anyhow, wishing everyone a brighter, healthy, safe and joyous new year.
