Ladies - this is magnificent...... After Part 1, I wasn't sure where you were going but at the end of part 3, I was really happy you went there.

Great characterization, sweet but not sticky and oh, did I mention Hot as Hell?

Thanks thanks thanks!

Does this piece (JA/JDM/JP) precede your JDM/Chad verse?

Oh. My. God.

I wish I could say more but that is all my brain keeps repeating!

This was wonderful (but I really wasn't expecting anything else), absolutely wonderful.

Poor Jen, it must have been awful. But *melts* Jeff and Jared. *melts some more*

God this whole thing was just so hot.

Thanks - so.much. - for sharing!

Feedback and Come Begging

I am here for two reasons, one self-serving, the other not.

First. 'Breaking To You' is a lovely, angsty, hot, delicious, warm and fun read, and I should have commented on it back when I first read it. My bad. Hope this helps atone.

Second. I have entered a partnership (one of the best kinds, where I don't have to do any of the really hard work) with Issaro to format her podfics as audiobooks when, of course, the authors are in agreement.

So far I have finished and uploaded one of [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's Due South stories and am working on another, and I was hoping you and Beanside would allow me to make 'Breaking To You' available in audiobook format as well. My second question would be whether, if you say yes, you might have a photo or piece of artwork to suggest for me to use as cover art for the project.

Thanks, both for your wonderful stories and your consideration of my request.

*laugh* I'm curious, what's the difference between a podfic and an audiobook?

Oops, I should have explained. Lots of people have never heard of audiobooks in this context. Also, a correction to my post as I am brain cell impaired: the 'books I'm doing for Resonant weren't read by Issaro, but by another fine reader, Zabira. It is 'Receding', an SPN gen fic by Mink and Jink, that I 'booked for Issaro and that is now up with her downloads.

So, regular podfics are plain MP3 audio files, often broken into many small segments for long stories, as Issaro's are. They are filed by iTunes among all your other music files. Luckily, with newer versions of iTunes, you can individually tag these not to play when you shuffle, but the files are still there mixed in with your music where they really don't belong.

When these files are converted to audiobooks, you get several advantages. First, both short and long stories become just one file (very long stories are probably best separated into about 3 hour parts for uploading and downloading convenience). The comparable length files are actually a bit smaller than MP3 files. The 'book plays with attached cover art, just like a music album (which is why I asked if you'd like to choose the cover). Also, iTunes recognizes the file as an audiobook rather than a song and places in a separate audiobook folder; it does not show up when you browse your music files, play, or shuffle them. Finally, and best of all for long stories, the file is automatically bookmarkable, so if you are listening on your iPod or MP3 player and turn it off, it will pick up at that spot when you turn it back on.

Hope that answers your questions.

Did you ever have a chance to think about a picture for the cover art to the audiobook version of Issaro's podfic of Breaking To You?

If not, she plans to just have me go ahead and use one of her plain clapperboards with the basic information about the podfic on it, like she already used with the mp3 files.

Just let me know, and I'll upload the 'book to her and give you a copy of the URL as well.

I didn't find anything, so go with the clapperboard, i guess. *grin* Awesome!

I'm really excited to hear it.

Great!

BTY is on Sendspace here.

Issaro's on vacation, but she should be back soon, then she'll be putting it up at [livejournal.com profile] fanfic_read_by.

I hope you like the format.

GAH! That is one hell of a story. I dipped hesitantly into J3 waters after reading a different author and wondering if it could be as good - and it was! The depth, humor, and easy flow of this story are perfectly spot on, as are the character voices. As I was facing a long drive (2 hours each way) yesterday, I decided to give this whole audiobook thing a try, so I put Issaro's reading of "Breaking to You" on my iPod and Damn! That drive went by so fast I couldn't believe it. The story holds up both to being read by someone else, and to listening for two solid hours. That's a tribute to your skill as an author. Off to post compliments over with cybel and fanfic_read_by but my great thanks to you, beanside, for taking the chance and putting this on audio.

So excellent, loved the way you put this story together, and the podfic of it was terrific. Also, hot like the surface of the sun.
