This was written for the incomparable

They are filed by iTunes among all your other music files. Luckily, with newer versions of iTunes, you can individually tag these not to play when you shuffle, but the files are still there mixed in with your music where they really don't belong.
When these files are converted to audiobooks, you get several advantages. First, both short and long stories become just one file (very long stories are probably best separated into about 3 hour parts for uploading and downloading convenience). The comparable length files are actually a bit smaller than MP3 files. The 'book plays with attached cover art, just like a music album (which is why I asked if you'd like to choose the cover). Also, iTunes recognizes the file as an audiobook rather than a song and places in a separate audiobook folder; it does not show up when you browse your music files, play, or shuffle them. Finally, and best of all for long stories, the file is automatically bookmarkable, so if you are listening on your iPod or MP3 player and turn it off, it will pick up at that spot when you turn it back on.
Hope that answers your questions.

Just let me know, and I'll upload the 'book to her and give you a copy of the URL as well.
