It's funny to say things to people like, "that was so awesome, you broke my heart." But it was awesome, and you did break my heart.

I love that Dean's assignment has him interviewing John about Vietnam, but that the story's not about that.

Sometimes, John forgot how utterly good Dean was. It floored him now and then, that with the years of hunting, having so much responsibility thrown at him, Dean had grown up so well. No thanks to me, John added silently.

ā€œI’m proud of you. For those Ds,ā€ John added with a little smile.

Dean blushed a little, ducking his head and flashed John a grin as he shuffled to the room he and Sam shared.

Grin fading, John headed back into the kitchen and snagged the report card out of the trash, uncrumpling it, and slipping it in the back of his journal with all the other regrets.

Aaaand...that's where I start crying. *g* Beautiful fic!

Fabulous flash of insight on John's part. Dean really is a good man.

*LOVE* that Dean didn't share his report card because Sammy needs to maintain his Geekboy status! What a great big brother! Of course it makes total sense to Dean to earn straight A's to keep the teachers off his back. How much do I love him?
