Got an e-mail this morning from a website that sells pagan stuff asking if they could pay for product placement on Dawnrising. *blink* Will reply to them soon, but I was just floored that someone would think we're worth paying to advertise their stuff on. Just...wow.

I'm a spammy person today! Whee!

Rock on. That would certainly help subsidize the hosting costs nicely. :)

But how does one go about that, and what does one charge, and also, legally, does that work?

There's no legal issue as far as I know. I own the domain name and pay hosting to the hosting company. They have no policy against paid advertising.

Usually you only have to start reporting income after a certain amount. If you get to that point, we can run it through my LLC for tax purposes.

I'd say maybe $20/issue for now. Keep it low, so that you don't feel weird about charging, and they are happy to pay such a low rate. :) Then negotiate placement. If they want a very prominent placement (banners on every page) raise the rate to $50 per issue or something. You only release four a year so that's pretty reasonable.

Have considered it, and have a few ideas on this, which I'll be sending to the list in a few minutes to put it to a vote.
