It's surgery day! I'm coming to you this morning from the lovely Embassy Suites in Chevy Chase/DC. We were upgraded to a gorgeous suite, which is way over the top for a one night stay. Jess is nervous, but ready to get the boobs off. They're not due to the hospital until 10am, so we've got some time to kill before we go.
Yesterday was interminable. It just seemed to go on forever. We got the doggo out for his walks, and I did my work, and then we sat and stared at each other, just waiting til we could strike out for the hotel.
The drive down wasn't bad at all. We left at 6:30, got to the hotel about 8, which isn't bad, since we had to do both the Baltimore and DC beltways, which both suck, and I stopped to get gas in Columbia.
I'm hoping that we're on the road by 3:30 tonight, which is going to suck, but it's okay. We'll deal with the traffic. I just want to get Jess home as quickly as I safely can. They're going to be a sore puppy.
In other countries, you spend a couple of days to a week in the hospital after this surgery, but it's not surprising that in the US, you just are expected to freeball it. We don't even know if the doctor is giving them narcotics. They gave them a raft of other medications, tylenol, gabapentin and alleve, but no clue if day of, they'll prescribe something stronger. We have weed if not, but still.
Then, at some point tonight, we shall go home, and Jess can relax, and I can relax, and it'll be lovely. I'll put on a video of the ship, and we'll veg out (Jess can sleep). We're not sure whether they'll be able to lay in the bed, or if they're going to need to sleep sitting up for the first few days. Whatever, I'll be there to make sure they have everything they need.
I have off tomorrow and of course the weekend, so I'll be there to dote on Jess' every need. They're going to be losing their mind by Sunday with all the stuff they can't do.
Okay, time to hop off and put on clothes for our odyssey. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday!
