Weekend was way too short.
Friday night, the shoulder kicked up in a big way, as in a "I can't sleep" kind of way, so Saturday was destined to suck. And man, it did.
Had a 1/2 hour massage Saturday afternoon, which hurt. My muscles are so fucked up that it was impossible for it not to be painful. Afterwards, was left shaky and nauseous, which was highly unpleasant. Debated on going to Pt. First again, but at the (incredibly wise) suggestion of my (beautiful and talented) wife, went home and took 2 of the Lortabs and napped. Felt infinitely better when I woke up, thankfully, but continued to take the heavy drugs throughout the night, spending most of it in a narcotic haze. Was quite nice, actually. Watched Alias and relaxed.
Yesterday, we went to the RV show at the Fairgrounds and had a blast, checking out the various types of RV. Found one truly great one, complete with ceiling fan in the bedroom. I so wanted it. We've made the decision that if we ever make it big in writing, we're going to buy a nice-sized RV and travel the country in it.
After that, it was time to head for Trader Joe's, and pick up some food for the week, and some more of their excellent Rosemary-Mint shampoo. Then, Mythbusters! *squee* Jamie was the cutest damn thing, talking about how "Adam's life was in his hands," during the sinking ship segment.
This morning, I got tickets to the WWE event on March 7 at the Arena. According to the Arena website, Hunter and Shawn are both scheduled to appear. *squee* This better not suck, Vince. I don't know how many more tries I'm going to give y'all. I'm only giving you this one because I miss MCW so badly.
Now, back to work.

EEP! massage doesn't have to hurt!!!!!!!!!
Date: 2004-02-23 08:38 pm (UTC)I'm very impressed that you boldy went and tried massage with your injured shoulder. An excellent idea, I strongly encourage it. But if you see my girl Falcon @ massage mosaics, she'll work around the area, she'll be gentle with the area, she'll get lymph drainage working to loosen the swollen muscle fibers. She's put up with my rebellious body that has muscles that tighten into a protective shield if people attempt deep tissue work (aka swedish massage that you see on tv when people are getting elbows in the back and such)
When I questioned her about attempting trigger point therapy (squishing the knots)her wise reply was "There are many ways to approach a probelm, we don't necessarily have to do it the conventional way" I think her first remark was "There's more than one way to skin a cat" and she's a problem solver so she kinda likes the challenge.
Be well :) Take narcotics, take anti-inflammatories, hydrate hydrate hydrate! You'll want to flush those toxins out of those tense muscles.
I'm so sorry you're shoulder is being difficult to say the least. Baby it, nuture it, pretend it is a basset hound puppy that has been orphaned and needs a loving home. Try not to pick fights with it (it's obviously cranky enough as it is) and remember you are wonderful the way you are damaged wing and all :) hugs and love EK

Date: 2004-02-24 07:03 am (UTC)She's actually using very smooth, light strokes at the moment. I'm betting it's going to be at least another 2-3 weeks before she can do any sort of deeper tissue massage. For the moment, it's just trying to get some of the muscles to loosen enough that I won't be in constant pain.
I'm trying to baby it, but it's not easy. Being a lefty, I tend to do everything with that hand, and it's hard to adapt my style, but I'll get there.
