beansideIt's Friday and this hellish week is almost over. I know next week won't be any better, but at least I'll have some weekend time. I do have to work tomorrow, but only for 4 hours.
I just got into it with my cousin, who is an idiot. My sister posted about being worried and upset on facebook, and he put up a reply that we would all be fine again (his father died of Covid during the last Cheeto presidency.) And soon, when prices are down, we'll see we were being hysterical. (my words, his tone). I may have blown up a bit. My sister made me edit out the parts where I called him an idiot, but it was not nice and it was not friendly. I called him naive, and pointed out that he is their target audience. That *he'll* be just fine, while I may not be able to travel outside of my sanctuary state of MD unless I fly out of country to a nice socialist country.
It's just such bullshit.
Last night, I ran out to the closest Sam's Club and walked around, got a few things. They had Dots pretzels, which made me happy, even though they didn't have the hard boiled eggs and coffee creamer, but they had plenty of other things.
I set up for a pickup order at the other Sam's for Saturday, since they have the stuff I wanted.
Okay, two days post, and with a reminder from the Governor of MD that he won't leave anyone behind, I feel slightly less panicky. I may not be able to travel out of my state, but I'll probably be mostly all right. LGBTQ rights are in the MD constitution. Gay marriage is law. I work for Hopkins, which has it's own insurance, so they probably aren't going to try to kick Jess off my insurance or stop covering preexisting conditions. We just voted to enshrine abortion rights into our constitution.
It's going to suck, but unlike a lot of people, I think we're going to be shielded from the worst by our state. Now, I have to figure out how I can help others.
