beansideIt's Wednesday, and yet again, I woke up to a nice, cool house. Also to a cat sitting on my chest and turning to put her butthole in my face. (it's a gift) I dragged my butt up to feed her, and now she has fucked off back to sleep somewhere while I am awake for the duration.
Yesterday was a nice quiet day, which we all kind of needed. Work was mostly boring as the delivery updates were very light, so I was able to work both that and my markets. My friend A was back from a week off, so I had someone to talk to, which was nice. I missed him. The way IKEA is set up, there's his team, which does the same tasks as mine, for just the NY market. Then, we take care of the rest. He's basically the me on the Staten Island team, so we commiserate a lot. And we both are kind of the heads of the pending returns queue, so that comes up a lot.
Towards the end of the day, Sam said that someone from the digital product team might be reaching out. They want to know more about what we do, and he volunteered a few of us. Since the Conshohoken job I applied for is in the digital office, I was definitely like "He can certainly contact me," and my boss was told me not to wait, to contact him directly. He is very invested in my advancement, which I appreciate.
So, I reached out to the dude, who seemed very nice and enthusiastic. We chatted over Teams for a while and he sent me an email with some questions, which I sent back. We have a 30 minute meeting scheduled for Thursday to answer any questions that the documentation I sent him brings up.
I don't know why they want to know all this. I have two theories. One, we're being transferred to be part of the service office. (not physically, but to report to them.). Or alternately, that this is some new initiative. There was something in the support specialist role about supporting coworkers. So this might be one of the ways. But really, I have no clue.
Aside from that, I gave dad a bath and exhausted him so much that he went to bed at 7. A little worried about his butt, which has some major red spots, probably from sweating in the heat. We'll just have to be more diligent about putting the pillow under there to roll him on his side.
Tonight, I am cooking a turkey breast, and we will have cupcakes for his birthday (because no one wanted to eat anything on his actual birthday, it was fucking hot.) And then, tomorrow, into the office. Ew.
Okay, going to go consider the merits of pants. Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday!
