Never fails, I go into the office and the next day I feel like I was beaten with a stick. For added fun, they were painting the office, so the fumes made the headache the fluorescent lights gave me even more fun. And it's lingered into this morning, which is awesome. It'll ease up as the day goes on and I take some ibuprofen, but it's annoying in the meantime.
Today is a not-horribly busy day. I've gotta prep Strahd for tonight, and Mad Mage and MotW for tomorrow, but I managed to do most of that over the week, so it's just skimming again. The main thing that I want to get done is my panel for CONfab. I've got a Googledoc of information that I'd like to include, but I need to get it sorted into a flow chart or something. And then, into a powerpoint. I enjoy making powerpoints, so once I've got the stuff I want, I'll be good to go.
Somewhere in there, I've gotta get over and see Dad, take him some junk food. He's doing really well, actually managed to get out of bed twice on his own and stand. He can't stand for long yet, and he's not able to walk once he's standing, but it's coming.
Yesterday was s lot. We have a company that we use for transportation in the boonies. And because their computer systems and ours don't really mesh great, we can't schedule pickups. Instead we email a pickup note, and they send us their tracking. And then we wait. Because some of these are places that they only go once a week or even less, they have 30 days to do the pickup and 30days to return the merch. This means those cases will sit in the pending returns queue for months, And we had no way to change it.
Lately, the powers that be have been on our backs about how many cases are hanging out in pending. And we've tried to explain that the PRQ is returns for the whole country and that stores aren't checking in goods, etc. But they don't want to hear it. There's 2000 cases in there and that's too many. And one of the biggest gripes is about those old cases.
So, I being a total border collie, seized on this problem, and went to the people I know in the transport company. And with a little persuasion, I got their internal tracking website. So, then, I had to make training first so that my team will take the emails they send and put the tracking #'s in the case, and then I had to make training for how to utilize the tracking and what to do once you've got it.
Once it's fully rolled out, it should cut the time a case hangs in the queue by about 20-30 days. Yesterday, I spent a good chunk of the day going back through our email archive and pulling the emails to try to get things up to date. I don't think we did, but it's something.
I came back from lunch with a request from one of the big bosses, requesting access to the two documents, so that was nerve-wracking. She hasn't said anything yet that I know of, but we'll see!
Okay, time to consider more coffee and pills and maybe pants. Everyone have a wonderful Friday!
