beansideI hope everyone had a lovely holiday, whether you celebrate or not. It was nice to have a Sunday off. And a lot of people (not me) get today as well! Which makes for a nice little break.
Christmas is not my favorite holiday. There's the anxiety of getting gifts and wondering if it's good for the recipient, the stress of coordinating the holiday meal, and for me, the weirdness of doing all this for a holiday that is not my own. Then, on Christmas morning, there's the fact that dad isn't excited by a single thing we get him, even the fitbit he'd asked for last year. We split the presents so I'm getting for my sister and Dad, and my sister gets for Jess and I. Which makes sense, but wow, it's stressful.
My sister was easy this year. She had a list of what she needed/wanted and I just got that, plus one surprise gift card. I, being me, felt a little bad that I followed the list and didn't really surprise her, but frankly, that's about the brain cells I had available.
Dinner went over better, we ended up going with Whole Foods heat and eat prime rib. The prime rib was really excellent. It took 1 hour in the oven at 400 and it was perfectly done. The truffled parmesan potatoes were especially tasty as was the cider baked Brussel sprouts. The creamed spinach was awesome if you like spinach, which I do.
Once that was done, we got to the real fun of the day. Yesterday,I'd decided to run a fun "one shot." With my players, we decided on a MotW game called "Too Many Draculas." The world's premiere Goth amusement park is overrun with vampires--some fake, some real. It's up to the players to tell real from fake and rid the park of the bloodsuckers who have killed 4 people so far!
We didn't get it done in one session, so we've got a follow up on Friday.
Today, Jess has an ultrasound-the not fun kind, and so I took half a day off to go with them.
Hopefully, my coworker actually came in today and so the updates won't be waiting for me when I get in. I'll have them for the rest of the week, and I don't want to be behind the 8 ball right off the bat.
Okay, now I shall get myself together for the day. Everyone have a wonderful Monday!
