I would like to lodge a complaint against it being Sunday already. Yesterday, I had the worst headache, and lost most of my Saturday to napping, so I feel like I should get a do over.

I still got a fair amount done, because it had to happen, but any spare time, and I was laying down. My sister got her oil change, and I picked her up and ran her back, which was no big deal. Jess and I went to the post office to send off some BPAL imps to one of our D&D group. Jess had bought a couple collections of imps, and as usually happens, some of the scents just did not work for us, but they matched the race and character class of one of our friends, so off it went to hopefully make someone else happy. BPAL are really hit or miss for me. My favorite perfume ever came from them. (The Queen of Hearts was the name, I think? It had red currant, which smelled fabulous on me.), but a lot of their perfumes just turn to baby powder on my skin. To be fair, I haven't used them since I had Covid, so that may have changed.

We grabbed lunch at Habit Burger and came home with it. Then, I laid down for a bit, until the garage called to say that the car was done.

I ended up going downstairs to lay back down around 5:30, and spend time reading up on other modules. We're blowing through Witchlight, which only has a few more fetch quests before the characters move into the final part of the module, which will probably only take a few more sessions at the rate they're going. I do have the Spelljammer module coming out in August, so we'll probably do that, but I'm thinking that it'll be a mostly short one, just enough to introduce the players to the spelljammer rules. So, I'll need another Sunday night game. As it stands, I'm torn between doing the Tyranny of Dragons campaign vs Curse of Strahd. Both sound like they could be challenging to run. The Tyranny of Dragons was one of the first modules, which was written concurrently with the Players Handbook. As a result, it occasionally references rules that got axed from the final product. Strahd's whole conceit is that this big evil vampire is mourning his lost love, and he keeps "finding" her in various people. It doesn't go well for them. As such, it can be a little...heavy on the creepy dude scale. I would probably switch it to the Countess Strahd Von Zarovich. Still creepy, but without some of the potential SA vibes? I need to see if I can find the PDFs of the modules, and do a scan through to see which would fit my group. I'm figuring it won't start until sometime after ConFabulation, where I will probably promote the group again. If we're lucky, we can get more people to run a few games. I don't really have time to play in any, but it would be nice to have more variety. I think at this point, there's one other active game on the server, to my six.

Some are a little less active than others, thankfully. Monster of the Week, Witchlight and Frostmaiden are pretty consistent. Masks is irregular, and Lost Mine will be a once a month game. The Graveyard shift is a one-shot, which happened to stretch into two games. If everyone is interested, I may run another one shot for those characters, but we'll see. It would still be a pickup game, here and there. My Friday night slot could still be open, though. We only play Frostmaiden every other week, so I could definitely fit in an occasional Friday night game.

There's just so many interesting modules! I want to run them all.

Okay, time to get ready for work, boo. Have a good Sunday everyone!

I haven't really read or played the Strahd module myself, so take this with several large grains of salt, but Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft did give some advice on generally running better horror games that are the right kind of creepy, so that might be helpful?
Also, I haven't read it, but a couple of weeks ago someone in another discord recommended this, in the same vein (almost literally) as what you were thinking: https://www.dmsguild.com/product/369197/She-is-the-Ancient-A-Genderbent-Curse-of-Strahd (This from a conversation where people were complaining about their lack of interest in vanilla Strahd, which then spun off into imagining chocolate ripple Strahd, Neapolitan Strahd, etc)

OTOH, I wonder what happens if you mash up Tyranny of Dragons with the new dragon content in Fizban's and the updated draconic fiends and guard drakes in Monsters of the Multiverse.... :)
