beansideThe weekend went too fast for my tastes, because sure enough, the alarm went off this morning and it's back to work.
It was a pretty good weekend all in all. After the business of Friday, Saturday was quiet. Went to Walmart and got the groceries and picked up gloves for Dad's colostomy bag, and that was about it. The rest of the day, I just sort of took it easy and surfed the net.
Okay, I also did cook dinner. The Good Chop bacon was amazing. I only had a pound of it, so I picked up a pound from Walmart, and it was just sad, the difference in flavor. Jess especially was a fan of the Good Chop bacon, exclaiming "oh my fucking god" after eating a piece. Next time, I'll get two pounds of bacon so we won't have to have the good bacon and the crappy bacon. I also baked sausage for dad and fried eggs for everyone, so it was a nice breakfast for dinner deal.
Tonight, we shall cook the top sirloin steaks, which I've been looking forward to trying. I'm just going to go simple on them--some salt and pepper and toss them into a hot pan for a good sear.
We still have a couple of Good Chop meats, but I'm definitely going to have to supplement from Walmart, which will be sad. I'm not looking forward to going back to USDA "edible" meats after nearly two weeks of USDA Choice.
I think I've almost locked down the things I'm getting for next month. It should make about 9 meals, give or take. The only one I'm not certain of is the pork loin. I'm deeply tempted to scrap that and get the wild caught sea scallops, because I fucking love scallops. But, they only come in a 10 ounce package, so I'd have to get two, which would cut it down to 8 meals, which would be more expensive per meal. So, I'm debating. The pork loin may be out of stock, which would simplify my decision, but I'll wait to see.
But for now, I shall get ready for work. I need to do a hard go-through of my one market (okay, technically not my market, but one I've adopted until we get someone to do it). There's a lot of orders on it that just never arrived at the transport company, which need to be cancelled out and refunded, or replaced. It's going to take me forever, and make me crazy, so that'll be fun.
We did set up the long-delayed second of the Masks games for next Sunday, so that's something to look forward to at the end of the week.
