beansideAnother night, another round of not sleeping great. I woke up a lot and had trouble getting back to sleep. As a result, I'm just tired this morning. I don't want to do anything but go back to bed. I'm currently sucking down coffee in the hopes that it helps. (Not holding my breath.) Maybe after work, I'll take a little nap before I have to make dinner.
Work continues to be brief bouts of activity followed by hours of boredom. Today doesn't shape up to be any different. My markets came in late, so I will be doing them this morning, and then will have nothing to do, since they've been getting in after I leave. Maybe I'll be lucky and they'll come in early.
Yesterday, I tried about five free trials of different apps for learning Swedish. They all sucked. Some might have been good for learning how to speak, but I want to be able to read it as well. It would help if I know what the washer and dryer say, for instance. Google translate only does so much. I think I'm going to go back to Babbel. It wasn't perfect, and it only goes to intermediate, but it'll at least be a start. Unfortunately, neither library system I have a card for has Swedish. Which, I would have sworn that the one did at some point, but I guess they removed it. On the plus side, it looks like Audible has quite a few free Swedish language courses. It again is going to have the problem of speaking rather than reading, but it's a free start, so I'll deal with it.
Sorry I'm back on my Swedish bullshit, y'all. It can't be that interesting to read about. But it makes me feel like I have an eventual way out. Like I'll be able to reinvent myself eventually, and have a life that is Jess' and mine alone. I think the next step is going to be getting a passport. There's a new airline that's coming to Baltimore called Play that has relatively inexpensive flights to Europe. Not this year, but once the pandemic settles a bit, I'd like to travel a bit. I don't want the first time I'm in Sweden to be for the job interview, though if that's how it works out, I'll deal.
Aside from that, not a whole lot going on here. At least it's Thursday and my early day, so that's good. Everyone have a good day!
