Subject line for yesterday and today from my favorite New Year's song, The Closing of the Year, from the movie Toys.
So, Happy New Year, y'all. We survived 2020. I mean, I know 2021 is going to continue being a wicked bitch for a while, but hopefully things will start getting better as we go on.
Despite everything, my year was not horrific. I got Covid, but a comparatively mild case, even if it sucked like hell. My job moved to work from home fairly early, so that was good. They gave us 2 weeks of emergency sick pay, so Covid wasn't a financial struggle. I miss going out places, but that's what grubhub is for. And of course, at the end of the year, Biden won, giving me hope that the nightmare will end, or at least improve. But yeah, things at Casa beanside are okay.
I swear, the old man cat, Sam, is plucking my last nerve this morning. He made it impossible for me to stay in bed, and now he is up my ass, howling like the damned. Not that it was likely that I would have slept much longer, but argh.
Tonight is D&D night, and I'm very excited! I hope it goes well. I have pregame jitters, which I always do, even for MotW, which I've run like 6 modules in. Once I finish this game, it'll be time to start working on that again. I'm thinking D&D will probably be a Friday night game, and MotW will be a Saturday game, which works out well.

I really loved Toys. I owned the soundtrack for it, even. It's funny, because I don't know that I really understood it at the time, but as I've grown up, it's made more sense.
