beanside | Black Lives Matter

Just wanted to start with that. I support BLM and would like to see the police defunded. I’m a suburban white chick, and I’m aware of the privilege that gives me. I can’t go downtown to the protests because asthma and teargas would probably equal hospital or death, especially since my lungs are still a little fucked up from COVID. I can donate and call my representatives and signal boost on social media. It doesn’t feel like enough.

The Cheeto in Chief scares the crap out of me. I’ve spent the last week in a state of anxiety, waiting for him to get people killed. I can’t imagine how it is for my POC friends.

I want better for my country.
