Survived the meetings. Got drafted into doing the announcing for two of them. Fricking Swedish product names, is all I got to say. I can’t even complain, because I picked all the products.

All in all, I think the coworkers had fun, which was the point of it.

I got called into the office with all the department heads and got recognized for all the work I did, so that was nice. Our head honcho awarded me with a magnet that commended my taking responsibility for the finished product. A raise would have been nicer, but it was good to be noticed. And hopefully in the future when I want to advance, the department heads all know me, and that I’m a good worker.

Our head of the Engagement Committee gave me a hug when we were done and told me she couldn’t have done it without me.

Aside from that, it’s been quiet since our Philadelphia trip. We had an awesome time, and really enjoyed the downtime. We went to the Mutter Museum, which has been on our wish list for years, and the Natural History Museum. We’re both utter nerds, so we had a blast.

The Mutter Museum is all medical oddities, and old surgical instruments. They had a timely exhibit about one of the great flu pandemic of 1918. We spent a couple of hours there, looking at all the ways the body can fuck up. Answer, a lot of ways, from cancer to venereal diseases.

Then it was an Uber to the Drexel University Academy of Natural Sciences. Dinosaurs, and dioramas and a butterfly exhibit later, we were tired and ready to head back to the hotel for a rest.

Then we had brunch at Con Murphy’s Irish Pub.

A nap and a Say Yes To the Dress marathon later, we were off to Parc for dinner.

Y’all, it was amazing. We started with the French onion soup, which was was perfect. So much cheese on top, and just the right beef broth. Then Jess has the steak and fries, and the steak was perfectly done with a garlic butter on top that was so tasty. I had the Beef Bourguignon, which was so good. The beef was just so tender and flavorful, and the veggies were cooked just right. We had dessert, the Pot de Creme for me, and Jess had this pear tartlet with a caramel toile and creme fraiche ice cream.

Then, absolutely stuffed and happy, we went to the movies and saw Birds of Prey, which we both loved.

It was an awesome weekend getaway.

Next thing to look forward to: we got tickets to see The Adventure Zone live. We listen to a few Dungeons and Dragons live plays to relax before bed, and TAZ is one of my favorites. We got 7th row seats, so we’ll be close to all the McElroy family shenanigans. So excite!
