We went to Washington DC for a couple of nights and had a lovely time. We visited the Air and Space museum, because we are giant nerds. There was a simulator ride with a journey to a black hole, and then we did the planetarium. Then a nice lunch at the Mitsitam Cafe at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Then the long trek to the Natural History Museum. I had blocked out how far it is of a walk, but damn. Got my steps in (to the tune of 7miles by the time we were done). There, we enjoyed the dinosaurs, a collection of different animal bones (mule deer look badass under the cuteness), the giant Megaladon exhibit and of course, the hall of minerals. I love looking at the various semi precious and precious stones. Don’t really care much for diamonds, but park my ass in front of the moonstones and opals.

I had gotten a cold a couple days before we left, but it mostly was gone while we were there. Now, of course, it has turned into a raging case of bronchitis because my body can be a giant bag of dicks.

I’m trying to rest up and get better, but I feel just crappy enough to want to rest, but not tired enough to actually do it. Plus, the part where I’m coughing my lungs up is not helping. I really don’t need another round of pneumonia, so I’m doing my best and taking my antibiotics. Unfortunately, I’m afraid it’s viral, since I’ve been on them for 4days with no change.

Sorry for the whining. I’m just ready to feel normal again.

that sounds like a nice little break - exhausting, but cool. I also love minerals - when I was a kid, the little mineral displays in the Science Museum always captured my attention for long periods.

sorry about the bronchitis! it's not whining to be unhappy about being sick; sounds like you're doing the right things, and I hope you're feeling better soon

thank you for the birthday wishes! it was a really good day, even if I was at work; and now I'm officially 60, which just seems so odd
