I’m going to try to make myself post more often, because I feel like I’ve distanced myself from y’all, and that’s not what I want. I miss the community of fandom. I just pulled back because depression made it hard to write, and so I felt like I didn’t have anything else to offer.

So, what is everyone up to?

I’m nominally in MCU fandom, but I’ll read SPN, Harry Potter, and others, if they look interesting. I love recs! [personal profile] dine has amazing recs, and I frequently check out people’s bookmarks.

I don’t really watch SPN anymore. I don’t really watch any shows. I don’t currently have the brain power or focus thanks to depression. What I do watch is reality tv like RuPaul’s Drag Race, Forged in Fire And Face Off.

Face Off has been my favorite for a long time, and this is its final season. The contestants are just...nice. There’s very little “bad guy” edits, and frequently they’ll help each other out. It’s a movie makeup/prosthetics show, so it’s a very cooperative field. Plus, the judges are all industry veterans, and no one wants Ve Neil to think you’re difficult. (She’s been poaching contestants since season 1.)

Outside of that, I work at the call center for a certain Swedish Furniture store. The job is grating, but they pay well, and the benefits are amazing. Which is something I remind myself daily while I’m getting screamed at over missing items or late delivery.

I don't have time to talk extensively right now, but I'll be back after work. Just wanted to say it's always so nice to see you or nilly resurface. I'll talk your ears off later. :)

it is always nice to see your posts show up! so I applaud your doing so more frequently :)

I'm glad you enjoy my recs - I read tons of fic throughout the week, and try to share the really good stuff.

it's super that you have good pay/benefits to make up (a little) for the not-always-great job.

I love face off! I've not been watching this season, but I do love seeing the practical side of making a vision become reality for the camera--and yes, the sense of camraderie is refreshing!

I also love Forged in Fire--I learn so much about the mechanics and techniques of arms smithing. It's a quirky show, for a very niche audience, but I do enjoy it a lot.

I'm glad the benefits of the job outweigh the downsides. And it's always good to see you posting.

I'm pushing to get my SPN_J2BB done and posted by deadline, so I'm trying to stay offline as much as I can manage--it's haaaarrd!

I miss fandom too. I haven't been watching much of anything myself, though I will still read MCU (I got really burned by this season of SHIELD, which used to be my happy place and then they betrayed me...) I started reading/watching Leverage again, until Netflix made it go away, and that was lovely.

I do want to write fanfic again. It's been a difficult year for my writing:(

*hugs*

I miss old fandom. Fanfics aside-and they're fun, not denying that-I loved talking to people. Books, music, art, gardening, social issues raised in the fiction we played with. Movies. I leaned on the community heavily because I'm so awkward & isolated & it made a big difference. Trying to fill the gap that the splintering has left behind is difficult. Too many social media platforms!

I don't watch tv...haven't had a tv in decades. What spare time I have, I used to read, listen to music...ah, lately, my time has been absorbed by twitter. It's kind of like writing drabbles, even better since they've expanded to 280 characters. :D

I know what you mean about the job. I've finally worked my way up the pay scale to something decent. Not rolling in it, but I don't have to struggle from month to month, & I have benefits. But since transferring to SC where my company is expanding (through the Carolinas & into Virginia), it's been hellish. We're growing too fast to keep up & frankly, the locals mostly don't want to work this hard, so they leave. We hire a new batch, get them trained, they leave, etc. But I like living indoors, so I gird my loins & go forth.

I'm trying to remember the last movie I watched. Um. Sing? Very cute. I don't like seeing new movies. I like seeing movies I'm familiar with, so it's hard to watch a new one; but once I do, if I like it, I can watch it any number of times. I think The Hit Man's Bodyguard was the last live action movie I saw. I liked it, but you have to like borderline cheesy violent foulmouthed movies. Which I apparently do. #lmao

Don't feel like you have to post fic! You & nilly are among some of the best fanfic writers I've encountered; but you have more than that to offer. Say hi for me!
