Snagged from
nilchance, because I can't make the post I want to until later.
1) I'm a lesbian, married to
nilchance, the love of my life, who is also my much more talented co-author. We met in wrestling fandom in 1999, online. I assumed that she was around my age of 27. Whoops. She was 17. She switched from an Ohio college to a local one in 2001, and we moved in together a month later. Handfasted in 2003. We're alternately cute and nauseating together.
2) I worked in a pediatric office for 15 years, until this past February.
3) I'm an kitchen witch and a Reiki Master. I'm eclectic with my pantheons and gods/goddesses, as I'm a child of Morrigan, Bastet, and the Lord of Winter.
4) I have three cats, a hamster and a dog. There's Willow, a 10+ year old squeaking fluffball with a cranky attitude; Kyan, a 5 year old neurotic border collie-dachsaund mix whose hobbies include sleep and hiding under the bed; Samwise, a 3 year old tiger-striped beast who came to our backdoor, accepted our food, sat in our laps and slept, and finally just strolled inside and never left; Makoto, a fluffy hamster with a tufty butt and spotted ear flaps; and Gracie, a dilute tortiseshell who we adopted in November and who is a furry entertainment center. There's also at least 5 stray cats who we feed. All our animals are rescues in one way or another.
5) On weekends,
nilchance and I drive animals from unsafe situations to fosters or rescues. We've driven 17 dogs so far.
6) I have moderate/severe spinal stenosis of C3-6. This means constant pain, regular violent headaches, and tremors. More recently, it has meant numbness in my right hand. I also have fibromyalgia. Some days are better than others, despite the wide assortment of drugs I'm on.(more on that in #7) I have a handicapped tag for my car.
7) I have major depression and anxiety. When I was younger, I tried to self medicate by abusing cough syrups and my mother's tranquilzers. These days, I laugh at my young self. I am a walking pharmacy. I take extended release morphine twice a day just to function, not to mention the ambien at night, the short release morphine for pain spikes, the Tramadol, Tylenol and Cymbalta.
8) I have lived in exactly two places my entire life. They are within a three minute walk of each other.
9) I have a very "fake it til you make it" in person facade. I actually still suffer from depression and anxiety, but I grew up with a very appearance-conscious family.
10) I desperately want a new dog, but the time just isn't right.
