Wow, it's been a while since I updated this. Sorry!
Title: Upon My Liar's Chair
Rating: Adult
Disclaimer: Thankfully, this didn't happen. I don't know them, I don't know what they do in their spare time, but I doubt it's any of this.
A/N: Much love to my wife for doing the quick once over. Sweet Charity fic, for avid_slacker.
Warning: Character injury, permanent disability.
Fuck. He must have dozed off, Jeff thought, lifting his head off of the sofa. Jared and Sandy had taken the king in Jensen's room, unwilling to leave when they didn't know that Jen was safe, but Jeff hadn't expected to actually sleep.
What time was it? He was looking for the clock when the gate buzzer sounded again. Fuck.
He stumbled to his feet and hurried to the monitor. “Yes?”
“Would you open the damn gate already?” Jensen's voice said. “I'm freezing my balls off.”
“Yeah. Sorry.” Relief washed over Jeff as he slapped the button to open the gate. Jensen was back. He was okay. He was pissy.
“Jeff? You gonna open it?”
Jeff blinked, pressing the button again. “I did!.”
“It's not opening.”
“Well, shit.”
“Yeah.”
“I'll be right there,” Jeff muttered, shoving his feet into his shoes. Hopefully no one was watching as he wandered out in his boxers and t-shirt.
It was still raining, a steady downpour that had him soaked to the skin by the time he got down there. He still looked better than Jensen.
“Hey,” Jensen said, waving. “Sorry to wake you up.”
“Jesus, Jen. What the hell happened to you?” Jeff hurried over, his eyes taking in the grass stained shirt and khakis, not to mention the sand crusted on his arms and legs.
“Uh. The chair fell in a lake, and I had to bail,” Jensen said, shrugging. “Might I add that you look fetching?”
Jeff laughed. What else was there to do, really? Jensen's smile got wider, and suddenly, he was laughing, too. Jeff finally got the gate's stiff lock open, and pulled it back far enough for Jensen to wheel in. “Have fun on your outing?” he asked.
“Yeah, I did, actually.” Jensen looked down, then back up, meeting Jeff's eyes. “I'm sorry. I was a dick, and you were just trying to help.”
“It's okay. I was pushing.”
“You were. But you care. And that's more than I can--” Jensen swallowed. “I appreciate that.”
“Why are we having this talk in the rain at one in the morning?” Jeff asked. “While I'm in my underwear, and you're carrying half of Third Beach on your pants?”
“Lost Lagoon, actually.” Jensen cracked up again as they headed for the door.
“Shh. You'll wake Jared and Sandy,” Jeff muttered.
“What? They're here?”
“Dinner ring a bell?” Jeff murmured.
“Oh, shit. Jared's going to kill me. I'm sorry, Jeff.” Jensen rolled into the living room and looked around. “Where are they?”
“Your bed.”
“My bed?”
“It's a king sized! Jared wasn't going to fit on my double!”
“You don't fit on your double,” Jensen pointed out. “Especially with Bisou.”
Jeff shrugged. “S'okay. I make do.” He felt something in his stomach unclench in a way it hadn't in days. This was familiar. This was good.
“Any food left over after Godzilla finished?”
“Haven't you eaten?” Jeff wished he could take the words back the moment they were out of his mouth.
“Yes, dead daddy, I ate lunch at three. However, then my paratransit van got a flat on the way home, and I got lost.”
“You got lost? Where'd you get the flat?”
“Just off of Royal Oak.”
“And you got lost?” Jeff felt his lips twitching. It had to be relief.
“Oh, shut up. Not like I've driven myself around much since I got the place,” Jensen muttered.
“Shoulda called.”
“Oh, that would have been an excellent idea. Except that my phone didn't seem to like the rain. Kept it dry when I was fishing the chair out of the damn lake, but then Monsoon season has to dump on me.”
He sounded so pissy, Jeff thought, feeling the giggle boil up in his throat. Like the universe had conspired against him.
“Are you laughing at my deep pain, asshole,” Jensen deadpanned.
That was it. Jeff sat down and howled. “Homigod. Only you, dude,” he gasped.
Jared's head poked out of Jensen's bedroom a moment later. “Jeff? Have you-”
“Hey, Jare. I think Daddy's gone around the bend,” Jensen said dryly, and Jeff laughed harder.
“Dude, you had us worried-” Jared pulled up short of hugging Jensen, eyes roaming over his clothes. “Ew. Dude. There's a leaf in your hair.”
“Well, pull it out.”
Jeff's stomach was starting to hurt by the time he managed to quiet his guffaws to giggles, but Jensen was laughing with him again. “S'sorry,” he snickered.
“You are so weird, dude. It's amazing you didn't wake Sandy or the dogs.”
“Oh, dude,” Jensen muttered. “Don't tell me you let Harley and his amazing flatulence up on the bed.”
“Yup. And I fed him spinach.”
“Sandy's not asleep dude. Dog asphyxiated her with the gas,” Jensen muttered.
“You can take the double for tonight,” Jeff offered. “I'll sleep on the sofa.”
“I'll get Sandy, and we'll head home, now that I know you're okay,” Jared said.
“Don't be an ass. Go back to bed. Jeff can take the double with me.” Jensen looked at Jeff. “If that's okay with you.”
“You can't sprawl any more than Bisou does,” Jeff murmured. “But I should warn you, I'm a sleep cuddler.”
Jensen grinned, shrugging. “I can deal if you can.”
Jeff returned the smile, wondering just what he'd let himself in for this time.

Date: 2008-05-31 03:52 pm (UTC)loved this chapter. Somehow or other I had missed a few of these so I just went back to the beginning and started over, this was a great climax to what has gone before...nice lift at the end there. Also....monsoon season in Vancouver *g* reminds me of the wettest Sunday I have ever known there when I got so wet my watch died - it obviously decided that as it wasn't meant to function under water Vancouver rain was the final straw! My phone survived, barely, but even my waterproof coat gave up the ghost.
I could just picture all of that as I was reading. Lost Lagoon...would so NOT like to end up falling in there ever, let alone on a cold rainy day.
Loved Jeff and Jensen giggling at the end....and oooooh sharing a bed...YAY.
