So, yesterday I went to see my beloved Primary Care Doctor. Y'know, the one who took ten minutes to tell me that my spine was fucked after FIVE goddamn years of pain and at least 6 other doctors who missed it while I still had health insurance. (Yes, I'm still bitter.)
And...well, he kinda laid it all out for me. Said I should probably concentrate on stretching the muscles at home, because if the Chiro hadn't made drastic improvements by now, it probably won't. Once I get insurance, he wants me to go to a pain management clinic for cortisone and lidocane injections into my spine. Ew.
The vertebrae will never get better. They will either deteriorate further, stay the same, or slip into my spine, necessitating emergency surgery.
In the attempt to prevent this, he gave me the list of things that Teresa SHOULD NOT DO.
1. Rollercoasters. Well, hell. *sigh*
2. Bumper Cars.
3. Bungie jumping
4. I may ride a horse, but at no more than a walk, and it must be a sedate horse, on basically flat ground.
5. No All-Terain Vehicles or motor cross, or biking in terrain where a fall is a distinct possibility.
6. No workout machiens that put a bar behind your neck or on your forehead.
7. Anything that could severely jolt my neck, head or has a high possibility of falling on my head or neck.
I was so very thrilled by all of this, let me tell you.
On the other hand, he agreed that my anti-depressant was probably needing a change, and switched me to generic Zoloft (And he remembered to tell me to taper the Celexa! Very exciting!)

Date: 2008-03-13 05:44 pm (UTC)I'm seriously thinking about discontinuing chiro.
1. I'm not sure how much it's helping.
2. I'm a little concerned about the adjustments doing further damage.
