Jan. 11th, 2024

It's Thursday! I'm going to get myself together relatively early and make a trip over to Costco and get some meats for us. We currently have one pack of chicken legs, so we definitely need more variety. The rest of my day has changed in reaction to yesterday, so that is all I need to do today.

And what happened yesterday you may ask? Well, I had two interviews, both with Hopkins. The first was for Patient Access Specialist, which would involve taking calls to schedule people for radiology appointments. The interview went really well. The hiring manager and manager were both really nice, and I was fully caffeinated, and we just kind of clicked well. They said I should hear back in a day or two. The second interview went reasonably well, but the hiring manager had more of a "why should I hire you?" style vs a "here's what we offer you, what can you offer us?" It didn't feel like it had a good flow.

After that, I went up to see Dad, who was very tired and slept most of the visit. Apparently, they had him standing with the hydraulic sit/stand machine 3 times, so I understand the tired.

Then, I came home and prepared for Blades in the Dark. Up til 5pm, I also was checking my email every five minutes, just in case I got an update on a job, but nothing came through.

At 5:55, I noticed that I had an email in my "business" email (vs the fandom email). I flipped over, expecting to delete a Glassdoor journal of open positions, and instead found "Patient Access Specialist II-Offer." Apparently that early interview went better than I thought, because less than 6 hours later, the offer was in my email.

They're offering a better salary than I had with 911, a Monday-Friday, daytime schedule and 100% work from home. I accepted very quickly, needless to say. So, with a projected start date of Feb 12, I am once again gainfully employed by John's Hopkins Medical System!!

So, this morning, I need to call University of MD, and cancel my interview for 1pm, and then I will have most of the day free.

Now I just have to wait for the Pre-onboarding coordinator to contact me to set up my pre employment drug screen and all that fun stuff.

I am so fucking relieved that I've found something. Money was definitely going to start being a problem soon, and it was sort of freaking me out. Insurance won't pick up til March, but that's not horrible, and the plan is pretty good. I feel like I can breathe again.

Of course, as Jess pointed out, it's funny that I got a car mostly so I could get a new job, and now this new job is work from home! They're 100% correct, but I'm okay with the car mostly being used for fun things.

And at $26/hr, we will actually be able to afford doing some fun things! I'm definitely looking at a spring getaway. It'll depend on how Dad's doing as to where/how long we go, but we are definitely going somewhere, at least overnight, but with a little luck, for a couple of nights.

Okay, I'm going to stop squeeing and get some more coffee, maybe think about pants in prep for Costco. Everyone have a most excellent Thursday!
