I was woken up about 15 minutes early by the cat announcing that one of the neighborhood cats was on her property. I hurried upstairs to find her with her tail poofed up huge. The other cat must have left before I came up, because she settled down and is currently sitting like. a gargoyle on her perch.
Dad is making a ton of noise this morning. Not sure if he's talking in his sleep, or if he's awake and squirming. I'm not going in until he calls, because I don't feel like dealing with him if he's asleep. Yesterday he got my sister up at 7:30, by being a butt. I get it, daylight savings and all that, but damn, when you're told that it's still 7:30 on her off day, go the fuck back to bed. But no, he insisted that she get his tablet and earphones and coffee.
Nope, it wasn't talking in his sleep. Fortunately, he went back to bed afterwards.
Yesterday went pretty okay. We talked a LOT about things we had already been trained on, but that's okay. She's gotta make sure we know our shit before she's comfortable letting us take a call. We observed a few calls as well. We'll probably do that again today, and maybe on Tuesday we'll take our first call. If not, on Wednesday.
I'm nervous about my first call, but not unduly so. I feel like I had a good grounding in the protocols, and I know where to find what I'm going to say. I just kind of want to get it over with. I learn better by doing. Hopefully, today will go quickly and we can skip ahead to the good stuff tomorrow. Hopefully, I get a nice routine call for my first call and not a full cardiac arrest or something weird. But not bullshit admin stuff. I am completely confused about the bullshit admin stuff. It's probably good that she's going to do another day of observation, because today will be mostly admin calls.
I continue not to love the various route options to get to or come from the back up center. Give me a nice four lane road like I take to the main center. Not this two lane country bullshit. Oh well, it's only for a month. We're here til Dec 4th. Then, it's back to the main center.
Yesterday, we had the whole backup center to ourselves. It was kind of nice. Today, there'll be other people. I don't think the other trainer is going to be super happy with the trainees she has. One is good, but kind of slow and the other is convinced that her way is correct. (There was a thirty minute in class argument over whether a man kicked in the chest by a horse should be listed as chest pain vs traumatic injury. (I was on the side of traumatic injury, she was on the chest pain side.) And apparently that trainer is notoriously blunt, so this could be entertaining at the least.
According to my sister, who just got up to shower, dad talked in his sleep all night. Poor thing, she did not get restful sleep.
I'd offer to let her switch one night and sleep downstairs, but I don't think she could do the stairs. Maybe he'll settle down a bit tonight.
Okay, I suppose it's time to put on pants and make lunch. Probably not in that order. I'm prone to dripping my toppings, so I'll do that in pants I don't need to wear to work, thank you.
Everyone have the best Monday you can have!
