It is ungodly early, even with putting the clocks back. I'll get used to it, but at the moment, it feels unfairly early. But alas, my shift starts at 7, and I like about an hour or so to wake up and have coffee and post, so 4:45am it will be.
I enjoy posting in the morning. Gives me a half hour to give myself context for the day before and figure out my emotions for the day to come. It's good for me, I think. Some people journal, I dreamwidth.
Yesterday was perfectly lovely. The tea shoppe was fussy and appropriately delicate and had the best butterscotch scone I've ever had. I had Gingercrisp tea, which was an herbal ginger mix (no caffeine). It was spicy and warm and a tiny bit sweet, but so very tasty. Jess had the Butterscotch bonbon, which was super tasty as well. We both only managed one pot of tea, but I did get a carry out cup of the ginger. (As well as two scones for my sister and father, because I am a nice person!)
Then, after a little rest, it was off to Aldi for some groceries. I love doing pickup from Aldi. It's always very smooth, and before 5 minutes is up, your groceries have been put in your trunk and. you're speeding away. By the time we got back, I was a touch hungry, so off we went to Chipotle for a snacky snack.
And today is the big day. As my instructor said, now the real training begins. Everything else was just getting me used to the technology and the basics. Now I learn how to actually do it. One of the other trainers told me that they try to have you on the phone by day 4, so we'll see what happens.
I'm nervous, but not horribly so. I think I was more nervous yesterday than I am right now. Now? It'll be what it'll be. I'm focused on getting there and stopping at Dunkin for a sandwich and maybe a coffee. I really don't enjoy the drive there. I'm hoping it'll be a little less busy on a Sunday and so early, but Friday there were a lot of cars with their high beams on. It was pissing me off. I'm hoping it'll be a little better earlier, but we'll see.
There is no way there that's not at least a little bit of a winding two lane road, which is kind of annoying. I'm still debating on my two options for how to go. Both ways kind of suck equally, so I'll see which way I want to go when the time comes. I'm just going to take my time and piss the people behind me way off.
Starting today, I'll be working four days, be off Thursday and Friday and be back on Saturday the 11th for another 5 days, then off three. After that, I'll be doing the five and three rotation, until at least December 4th. I'll be on day shift til 12/21, but the rotation may switch after the 21st, but we'll see how it goes.
Okay, time to go get dressed. Everyone have a most amazing Sunday!
